AJ Moore

AJ Moore was an avid history reader who, at the age of twenty, found himself deeply involved in an exciting but confusing national adventure: the Vietnam War. When he enlisted in the US Army in 1967, he was a patriotic “true believer” in the war effort. His combat experience changed that. The disillusionment and confusion over his role in the war motivated him to undertake years of research and soul searching in order to reconcile his beliefs with reality. This enabled him to understand his experience and ease the feelings of personal guilt that had plagued him for decades. AJ spent years as a leader in the IT industry, working for national and international consulting organizations. In 2006, he and three partners formed a new consultancy in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Under his leadership as president, the firm grew rapidly and in 2010 was named to the prestigious Inc. 500 list, an annual compilation of the most entrepreneurial and fastest growing, privately held U.S. companies. During the mid-‘80s, AJ served as president of Chapter 48 of the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) in Norfolk, Virginia. Al focused the chapter’s activities on elevating the public perception of Vietnam veterans, recognizing that most veterans are productive, stable members of the community: not the Rambo-like personas often portrayed in the media. This led to the growth of the chapter and enabled it to offer a wide range of assistance to veterans, including college scholarships for veterans’ children. AJ holds a BS degree in Business Administration from Old Dominion University. He resides in Virginia Beach with his wife, Norma, a former nurse. Their two adult children also reside in Virginia Beach with their families.
