Dr. Daryl J. Powell is the Lean Programme Manager at the Subsea division of Kongsberg Maritime AS, in Norway. He holds an MSc in Lean and Agile Manufacturing Systems from the University of Wales in Swansea, UK and a PhD in Lean from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway. Following his PhD, his post-doc research focused on applications of lean thinking in high-mix, low variety, project-based production, which led him to the hydro-acoustic division of Kongsberg Maritime. Dr. Powell is also an adjunct professor at the Department of Industrial Economics and Technology Management at NTNU and has previously been a visiting professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Groningen, Netherlands. His research appears in several leading peer-reviewed journals, including Computers in Industry, the International Journal of Operations and Production Management and the International Journal of Production Research, among others.
