David Weston Marshall

David Marshall, PhD, is a historian with subject expertise in exploration, navigation, celestial observation, wilderness survival, and basic subsistence in early Native America, the Western Frontier, and the Ancient Mediterranean. For thirty-seven years he has served as a researcher, professor, and archivist, and is professor emeritus at Texas Tech University. His studies have led him to archives, museums, historic locations, and archaeological sites worldwide. As a traveler and outdoorsman he has backpacked and camped on seven continents, from the Arctic to Antarctica. He also enjoys sailing, canoeing, hiking, climbing, and observing wildlife in natural habitats.
