She has written over 20 novels, including her most recent novel, Girl, set amid the atrocities of Boko Haram which was published in September 2019. She has also written over five works of drama and four works of non-fiction including her memoir, Country Girl. Edna O'Brien is the recipient of many awards including the Irish Pen Lifetime Achievement Award, the American National Art's Gold Medal and the Ulysses Medal.
