Jan-Philipp Sendker was born on 28. January 1960 in Hamburg, Germany. He became a foreign correspondent for Stern magazine in 1990, reporting from the USA and Asia, and took to writing his debut novel "The Art of Hearing Heartbeats" in 2000. Since then, he has published 3 further novels, which have been translated into about 30 languages around the world.
