Richard Meadows is a mentor to teenagers and young adults and the author of The Essential Social Skills Handbook for Teens. In his writing, his work with young people meets his own personal experience as a teenager to provide clear and relatable guidance. His work deals with social anxiety, confidence building, stress management, and academic and mindset guidance, all geared specifically towards the unique needs of teenagers and young adults. Richard’s understanding of the struggles faced by teenagers began in his own youth when he struggled with his self-esteem and confidence, as well as social anxiety. Through reading, learning, and implementing the strategies he’d read about, he was able to steer himself into adulthood with a firm understanding of his own anxiety, and take steps to heal. Driven by the desire to help young people through the challenges he had faced himself, Richard embarked on a career in youth mentoring. He has worked with teenagers with a range of difficulties, including social anxiety, ADHD, depression, eating disorders, and stress. As a teenager, he was able to guide himself towards seeking the help he needed from counselors and mentors, but he’s all too aware that not all young people are able to get themselves to this point independently. This is the drive behind his writing career, and he’s determined to make that help accessible to everyone who needs it.
