Tony Kent is a thriller writer, a criminal barrister and a former champion boxer. He writes the bestselling Joe Dempsey / Michael Devlin series of political and legal action thrillers which began in 2018 with 'Killer Intent' and continued in 2019 with 'Marked For Death' and in 2020 with 'Power Play'. The series grew again in 2021 with his fourth novel, the US-set political blockbuster 'No Way To Die' in which intelligence agent Joe Dempsey and his team race against time - and across the east coast of America - to stop a devastating attack at the heart of the US government. The fifth book in the series - 'Trust No One', a European-set Dempsey and Devlin thriller focused on war crimes and the International Criminal Court - is due for hardback release on 27th October 2022. In his 20-year career at the criminal Bar Tony has prosecuted and defended in some of the country’s highest-profile criminal trials. He began his career in England’s leading criminal chambers, during which time he became one of the youngest barristers to be ranked as ‘a leader in his field’ for serious crime by the independent Chambers directory. After ten years he left to found and co-own a highly-specialised private criminal defence firm, focused on the most serious cases with a client list that includes politicians, royals, celebrities, sportspeople and other public figures. This has led Tony to deal not only with the UK government but also with Scotland Yard, the NCA, MI5 and the FBI, as well as some of the UK and Europe’s most infamous organised crime groups. Tony also appears as a legal commentator both in Britain's national newspapers, radio and television news, as well as being a criminal law specialist on a variety of television programmes including Netflix hits 'My Lover, My Killer' and 'Meet, Marry, Murder'. Before he began his life as a barrister, Tony was a heavyweight boxer who won a host of national and International championships. After his last fight aged 22 he went on to train two generations of white collar boxers and founded the UK’s biggest and most successful white collar charity boxing event, The Float Like A Butterfly Ball. Tony brings this unusual professional experience and insight to life to his plot-driven, action-heavy series of contemporary and eerily-relevant thrillers. Tony's books have been picked for 'The Richard and Judy Book Club' and 'The Zoe Ball Book Club', as well as being 'Thriller of the Month' picks for both 'The Times' and 'The Sunday Times'. Tony lives just outside London in Buckinghamshire with his wife Victoria, their son Joseph and their Jack-Russell terrier Maximus.
