I am a public speaker, a podcast host, guest speakers at schools and youth programs from across the country and currently have authored four books on the topic of youth baseball. Number one best sellers include Fun Over Fear for families with athletes 3-9, THE PROCESS for families with athletes 10-16, and The Recruiting Process for families with athletes 15-21. As a young student athlete, I was always the last player picked. Whether it was the school yard at recess or little league, I was, what might be termed, HORRIBLE! From the age of nine, I started on a fifty-one-year journey within the sport of baseball. I learned the old-fashioned way, failure and hard work. Failure is not about falling, it is about not getting back up and trying again, and again. By the time I had graduated highs school, I had earned a baseball scholarship to Arizona State University, and I was also a 13th round selection by the Chicago Cubs in the 1981 MLB draft. My baseball Odessey has led me to many lifetime friends within the sport of baseball. Some at the highest levels of the sport, both professionally as well as college. I have over twenty years of head coaching experience at the high school, travel baseball and NCAA D3 levels. I retired from coaching once my sons were old enough to begin playing on the big diamond at thirteen. I have lived through the hamster wheel of youth baseball. Youth baseball is a BUSINESS MODEL, not a development model. What I am able to provide families is true guidance. What is important and worth time and resources and most importantly, what is NOT WORTH your time or money! What I offer parents as an author is insight and opinions based off of life experiences. Many can speak as former players or as former coaches but ONLY a select few can offer valuable insight from all three, a former player, former head college coach and from a parent's perspective! Who is offering your family, most importantly your son the guidance he really needs in order to make decisions about his future? My sons played in college, they both graduated from college. My youngest son was recruited at the game's highest levels of both the NCAA and the MLB. He was a two-time MLB FIRST ROUND selection. The only New England student athlete in the 58-year history of the MLB draft to be drafted twice in the first round. I have over 35 years of experience helping families from all over the country. What I do best is offer families a game plan, an understanding of what is worth their time and money. As a public speaker, a consultant, and author, I am able to share with families what truly matters regarding the youth baseball experience. I have given my entire life to the sport of baseball. The youth travel baseball world is truly filled with pitfalls and landmines. Let me share information and insight that you can use for years to come.
