A Meditation Adventure
A great and unique read for the genre. Harris’s skepticism and occasional acerbic humor makes this meditation book different from most. It’s also a narrative, and an adventure.
Everybody’s experience in approaching and practicing meditation is unique. However, I think most readers will find a connection with Harris’s personal journey and will profit in their own practice. I personally really enjoyed it and have listened to this audiobooks three times in as many years.
The last hour of this version of the audio book contains guided meditations.

A great book for helping me cope with rough period
I have listened to this a few times now, and it has prompted me to listen to some of the other authors mentioned in it also. To me, this really captures the inner anxiety and how it can be, if not tamed, then at least dealt with. Despite Mr. Harris's success in the world of global news media, the humility and blunt honesty of his approach to the book makes it VERY relatable. In fact, I think this is the main draw for me. That and the opening phrase. There are lots of books on mindfulness and dealing with stress, but to me this is one of the best. I am definitely (at least) 10% happier since reading it.
I would strongly recommend listening rather than reading as in this case I believe the medium matters.

Choiceless Awareness
Dan's description of the 10 Day Silent Retreat was priceless. He truly made his experience come alive for me. I wondered what one of those retreats was all about. He made me understand meditation (behind the waterfall) much better. This book is worth listening to, and as well I bought the book to read. Thank you Dan for making this book, for making it available on audible and narrating it yourself~!

Wish I read an overview
Way too long-winded and it took him forever to get to the real info! Fast forward to at least halfway through the book, you'll only miss his stories which are great if you are getting this book to hear about his lifes adventures. I wanted to learn more about his journey with meditation.

Life changing read—and terribly entertaining and humorous
I hadn’t expected to be so drawn in and amused by Dan Harris’s account of his life as a broadcast journalist who gets assigned the religion beat a week before 9/11. and his career covering wars and breaking news for ABC. His account of coping with an on air panic attack that launches him on a search to quiet his mind and calm his nerves. Best of all I found my way to a impactful 10 min a day meditation practice that indeed sends amazingly positive ripples through my life despite living in his time of great upheaval.
