Publisher's Summary

*Featuring Max's comforting voice, this updated and expanded edition of 3:16 is the first full-length audiobook read by America's pastor, Max Lucado.*

Sometimes life appears to fall to pieces and can seem irreparable. We’ve all had our fair share of disappointments, loss, or hardships. But for every challenge there is a breathtaking promise: It’s going to be okay. How can we know? Because God so loved the world.

In 3:16, pastor and New York Times bestselling author Max Lucado encourages us to study closely the “Hope Diamond of the Bible”: John 3:16.

Max says of his favorite verse, “Every time I recall these words, they are fresh and as stunning as my first encounter with them. The mind-bending awareness of God’s limitless love, his incalculable sacrifice, and the priceless teaching at the core. How can we not review it again and again? I want this generation, and all who come after, to look closely at the key promise of God and choose the gift beyond all gifts.”

Throughout this updated edition of 3:16, Max will invite you to:

  • Stand in awe of how deep, wide, long, and high God’s love is for you
  • Understand more fully the living hope you have through Jesus’ death and resurrection
  • Rest in the assurance that salvation is a gift from God, not something you can earn

If you know nothing of the Bible, start here. John 3:16 invites you to know God’s love deeply and intimately. And once you accept God’s love, your life will never be the same.

If you know everything in the Bible, return here. Let John 3:16 become the banner of your life, so much so that the message of God’s unending and unbending love overflows from you to others.

3:16 also includes a 40-day devotional read by Max to help you draw closer to your loving Savior.

Much appreciated !

This book by Max Lucado, 3:16 the numbers of hope, is truly a success in teaching with love and depth giving honour to the Word of God John 3:16, to all those who have the desire to draw closer to God or to refresh their souls. I would also recommend it to everyone, as a study in small group for the first steps of a new Christian.

Wow! Thank you, Max Lucado

I was in chapter 11 reading “3:16” when I heard that Max Lucado had read the book in person for Audible and other voiced book publishers, so I decided to change. Started the book again and listened to every word by it’s gifted author.

To say that it provided even more clarity is to stop short. Listening to Jesus’ ‘conversation’ with Nicodemus who came to Him in the dark because he was a member of the Sanhedrin and couldn’t chance being caught asking this man Jesus these questions. To listen to this most famous verse read phrase by phrase - All of it is awe-inspiring.

And his ending 40-day reading, which I’ll now do day by day with the book - wow!

Thank you, Max Lucado, for vivid imagery and helping this 2,000 year-old passage come alive.

Thank you, Audible, for providing it.

Infusion of hope

The theme of the redemptive work of Christ never grows old. In fact, the more of the Gospel message I hear, the greater becomes the wonder and joy of this miracle in my heart and mind. I didn't read this book the first time around so this publication was new to me. I especially chose it because Max Lucado was reading his own writing. I started to listen to another book written by him but with a different narrator. I just couldn't continue, it was painfully choppy and monotone. Max's unique style, plus his heart for God and people comes through in his voice. This book and narration is a soothing balm in troubled times. This work by Max Lucado is ministry at its finest. I will probably listen through it many times. I never get tired of the Gospel. It is truly the best news!

So good

I really like Max Lucado's books and this is another one I'll return to time and time again. I loved how he went through each important phrase of 3:16, breaking it down and discussed it.
