Story
Many listeners email me each day. They typically have problems with the men in their lives. The truth that most of them don't realize is that their emotionally unavailable man or narcissistic man has an undiagnosed syndrome, complex, or disorder. Men often don't seek diagnoses for these issues that have been an ingrained part of their personality since they were born. They want acceptance and a sense of belonging from their partners, and they are often as unable to get these things from his partner as she is unable to get emotional validation from him.

Story
Many people suffer from feelings of stress and anxiety in their everyday lives. For people with Asperger syndrome (AS), this stress can be particularly difficult to manage. On a daily basis people with AS must fit into a world that seems totally foreign to them, and this can increase feelings of alienation and anxiety, making life's challenges especially hard to cope with. The first book on anxiety written specifically for adults with Asperger syndrome, this book offers practical advice on how individuals with AS can manage their anxiety more effectively.

Publisher's Summary
Asperger's Syndrome, or high-functioning autism, is a form of autism that falls on the autism spectrum. Asperger's Syndrome can be seen in adults and in children if you know what to look for. Many people who can be described as hypersensitive, odd or eccentric have Asperger's Syndrome which has gone undiagnosed. Some of the greatest comedians, singers, actors and inventors have Asperger's syndrome. They specialize in what they are good at, and they can become highly successful in doing so.
In this book, we will discuss the different overt and covert traits that can be seen in those with Asperger's Syndrome in its list form. If you feel that you or someone you know has Asperger's, it is essential to have the diagnosis confirmed so that the Asperger's person can seek help in learning the skills that are essential to making them more successful in their ambitions.
Asperger's Syndrome children and adults have an underdeveloped brain on MRI scans. They lack the brain development in certain areas that help them to keep up with their peers. They may be advanced in specialty areas, but they may lag behind their peers in normal development of other areas. Their nervous system and their emotions are often sensitive. They often feel alienated from their peers, as though they do not fit in. Asperger's can cause depression, and possibly even suicide, if it not recognized early.

To General
I was excited to see this title, hoping it would help me define Asperger's for me. Well it did not do that at all, I am the mother of 8 children, , I felt many of these traits are traits that can be seen in many children at different stages of development..
. This book is not the book to comfort or to clarify Autism Spectrum Disorders.
After hearing a few of the traits that were so general , I found myself not believing the rest of the traits at all, questioning the darn disorder.

My Husband Whom I Love Dearly
It took me a long-long time to understand that my "Husband" has highly functional autism....I saw earlier traits and just thought that it was because he was an only child and brought up in a well to do family....I ev en thought maybe it was because he was a lock key kid....basically raised by like male friends as a child throughout most of his life!... :( But I was able to understand that yes I was close but that it was more than his environment for his development as a child it was that he was born this way....especially when I saw some of the same traits in his close family members. And my general practitioner and phycologist also helped....a lot.... :)

inside the box
It's a very narrow look at some "possible" Aspergers traits without qualifying things that are different about Aspies since autism is a spectrum we don't all fit into the same little box, female Aspies in particular are overlooked and under diagnosed because of silly conformist lists like this. I found this disappointing.

actually this book made me very angry
Twenty minutes of meaningless, unhelpful generalisations that offered little or no insight into ASD, but a whole load of frequently inaccurate reasons to judge people on the autistic spectrum. Can we please not use the term 'aspie'? Offensive
Having recently been diagnosed with the condition, I was hugely disappointed that the book portrays the condition as a subhuman developmental disability, and widely uses the patronizing and offensive term 'aspie' with no sensitivity to sufferers who might be reading along.

appalling representation of aspergers/autism
The narrative is a gross misrepresentation of the brain difference.
It says aspergers is the cause if depression, it is society that is the issue.
It is patronising about the core issues that go with the condition and assigns value and interpretation from a neurotypical perspective.
I have autism (aspergers) the stuff about empathy and understanding others is false, if anything there is over empathy and emotion.
very misinformed.
If you want to understand autism and the aspergers elements of it please go to a different source as this is just pain insulting and false.

Too short and too general
Disappointed. The book is too short (how can it even be called a book?). I think a story of Cinderella is longer... The traits described in the book are so general and don't even scratch the surface. If you want to understand what the syndrome is about this is not the best book for that as after listening to this virtually everyone you know will have a trait or two and it will leave you wandering if everyone in the world has this syndrome.
