Publisher's Summary

Horror intends to create an eerie and frightening atmosphere for the listener. Prevalent elements include ghosts, demons, vampires, werewolves, ghouls, the Devil, witches, monsters, dystopian and apocalyptic worlds, serial killers, cannibalism, psychopaths, cults, dark magic, Satanism, the macabre, gore, and torture.

The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown. These facts few psychologists will dispute, and their admitted truth must establish for all time the genuineness and dignity of the weirdly horrible tale as a literary form....

As may naturally be expected of a form so closely connected with primal emotion, the horror-tale is as old as human thought and speech themselves.

Well I had to change my rating

Some of the narration is very good. However one of the narrators is very bad. Kenneth Elliott obviously has a hard time. He mispronounces many common words and commonly known names. So irritating! Especially when he mispronounces the same common word over and over again. He also has a habit of pausing a little at odd times like he is not sure about what he is saying. Apparently his narration was rushed without editing or practicing what he will be recording. Be aware the vast majority of the stories are H P Lovecraft. A bit disappointing. I hoped for a more diverse set of authors.
Well I had to downgrade my rating from 2 to one star. It just went from bad to worse. This last narrator is so awful that I just cant finish listening. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Look elsewhere for short stories.

The sample is too short, but when you listen to a few it is poorly narratored.

I did not enjoy this at all.

Poor naration

I listened to 3 or 4 short stories of what should have been a great book, before finally, i could not put up with the irritatingly bland narration. I then tried to return it, only to fall foul of some undisclosed clause or other in the returns policy. Do yourself a huge favour and avoid this book like the plague and save your money for a more deserving book.
