Publisher's Summary

Unemployed mill worker Zoe Hart jumps at the opportunity to emigrate to British Columbia in 1863 to find a better life and be reunited with her brother, who fled from home after being accused of a crime.

Pastor to miners in the mountains, Abe Merivale discovers an abandoned baby during a routine visit to Victoria and joins efforts with Zoe, one of the newly arrived bride-ship women, to care for the infant. While there, he's devastated by the news from his fiancee in England that she's marrying another man.

With mounting pressure to find the baby a home, Zoe accepts a proposal from a miner of questionable character after he promises to help her locate her brother. Intent on protecting Zoe and frustrated by his failed engagement, Abe offers his own hand as groom. After a hasty wedding, they soon realize their marriage of convenience is not so convenient after all.

loved it!

So far I have enjoyed all of Hedlund's books, no exceptions with this series. I liked how small parts of the story overlapped a little in each book. Like each book starts before the previous book ends timeline wise.

Sweet Romance without being vulgar

I love this author. this book was my favorite of the 3 in this series. I love the romance, that is clean, but still steamy. I really felt what the characters were going through. This is a great listen, with a great message.

Truly one of my favorite reads this summer

I love the characters, their interactions, the storyline, and this was a fun read! Multi dimensional, and an interesting story told in away that never felt preachy. Loved it!

Well written

All three books were so much more than I expected and enjoyed very much. If you haven’t read the first two I would encourage you to start with the first one.

Loved it!

This was the first book of Jody Hedlund I’ve listened to. And I’ll be listening to more now. It was interesting. I didn’t feel like it was overly religious. Yet it told the story of a couple who lived what they believed. I really could connect with the characters. I loved how much they loved children. Also loved how accurate the details and settings were. It’s a good listen.

Great blend

This audiobook is the perfect blend of romance, historical detail, intrigue, and setting. I love how the reader’s voice portrays each character and his or her background with excellent inflection and timing. Sit in your comfy chair with a warm blanket and imagine the beauty of the northern lights as you listen to spunky Zoe and Pastor Abe’s story.

Interesting & entertaining

I really enjoyed this book. I ended up finding excuses to keep listening because I was drawn into this story. The short history of the real bride ships was so interesting after the story was over. So interesting to know the inspiration behind the characters. This was my first book from this author and I will definitely be listening to more! The narrator was fantastic as well!

Beautiful Story

In these times of stress and evil it's refreshing to listen to a light romance and interesting story with faith mixed in. The narrator was excellent as well.
