Story
Marianne Williamson is a best-selling author, a world-renowned teacher, and one of the most important spiritual voices of our time. In Tears to Triumph, she argues that we - as a culture and as individuals - have learned to avoid facing pain. By doing so we are neglecting the spiritual work of healing. Instead of allowing ourselves to embrace our hurt, we numb it, medicate it, dismiss it, or otherwise divert our attention so that we never have to face it.

After three years, one of his teachers told him that he would have more impact on the world if he left the monk’s path to share his experience and wisdom with others.

Fantastic application of ACIM
This is wonderful clarification and reinforcement of many of the principles, and a better understanding on ACIM. I have many of Marianne Williamson‘s books audio and tapes and this is a new refreshing approach. I love his many quotes from and definitions from many other philosophers, poets, and eastern teachers. What a great find.

Parables / storytelling to illustrate basics
I found this book engaging and it has inspired me to pick up the Bible again. I looked at it in the first place because it had great reviews. It seems the majority of complaints is about the author giving specific anecdotes from his life, from friends or students.'
This was exactly what I enjoy!
It is not a bullet points 'cliffs notes' of ACIM but you can get that out of the stories.
I will re-listen!

Maybe the first ACIM book you should read
I wish I had read this before or at the same time as I started studying The Course. He does a great job putting complex ideas into simple, understandable and (of most value) applicable lessons for life change. This is the best companion to ACIM I have read (and I've read them all-- almost ;-) Good job, Alan Cohen. I am on my second reading and will go back over and over.

Another ACIM based book which falls short for me...
Truthfully, it was hard for me to make it all the way through this book, though I persevered and finally finished it. It is not the first ACIM based book I have read. There were many concepts and “teachings” contained in this book which I believe to be quite beneficial, authentic and wise - most, if not all, of which I have already encountered via other sources and resources; however, I often (or typically) seem to find some elements in ACIM teachings which feel somehow arrogant to me and so far in my exposure to ACIM certainly do not address all areas of inquiry about this human life and the purpose of certain experiences from a spiritual perspective. And, though Alan Cohen I imagine to be a very kind, loving and well-intentioned person, some of his personal/professional stories recounted here seemed like an odd pat on the back for himself or someone else - or even subtle or not so subtle self marketing....even if that was unintended, that was my experience of it - possibly better editing could have assisted there. And perhaps for me, there is simply too much Christianity based terminology/dogma for my tastes in ACIM - meaning too much religion based terminology/concepts. I am definitely not anti-Christian as I certainly believe in and honor Jesus as a master spiritual teacher - that is one reason why the arrogance I seem to experience in ACIM is off-putting since Jesus - said to be the source of these teachings - (to my knowledge and perception) Jesus was a humble man/teacher & mentor who truly taught only love ultimately. And that is a message contained in this book which does resonate with me. In any case, I feel this book and ACIM do have positive concepts to impart - from which many will benefit - and hopefully that is what is most important. But also hopefully readers will explore multiple beneficial spiritual sources & resources to have a broader all around perspective. I have never been able so far to bring myself to dive into the actual ACIM material and I attribute that fact to the overwhelming amount of content as well as the ACIM based books I have read that do not fully resonate for me. Perhaps the actual material would deliver a different experience for me regarding the ACIM teachings - or perhaps not... There is other channeled spiritual information available which resonates more authentically for me. And, ultimately, I believe in finding the spiritual sources that more closely align for each individual will be most beneficial for them while always embracing both genuine openness and discernment - and as long as those teachings are heart-centered, are from love and teach love. 💜. Ahh, earth school is always here to teach us one way or another while we are in these human bodies!

Exceeded expectations
This Book was beautifully narrated by Alan Cohen who very much added to the narrative with his tone, inflection and honesty.
I observed my resistance to the belief that ACIM was scribed from the voice of the Christian god. Alan addresses this directly which I personally found helpful.
It is a wonderful summary which nestled itself comfortably alongside
my inner peace. The experience was quite beautiful really. I will listen to this book over again.

Embrace Your Freedom
Life Changing, Enhancing & Saving.
The new or revisited perspectives provided in the book are at once illuminating and liberating.
Many you will/may know already but are worth rexamining especially if they have yet to foster change in our lives. But those perspectives that are new or presented in a new light are seriously liberating.
Each thought is presented by way of an interesting example, making the "lessons"/ thoughts etc very accessible.
My only slight gripe is I found the narration slightly slow, but I easily cured that by increasing the narration speed. I dont know if this was the reason behind bookmarks I created not saving in the exact place I was expecting. Hence for these 2 reasons, the performance dropped a star, but better to have a slightly slow rendition you can speed up than vice versa.
Overall this is a great book and an excellent & accessible route through the course.

loved it
I have attempted study of ACIM numerous times and always get lost in the text. This book is a great tool as an introduction to the course. I really enjoyed listening to the principles being broken down to relatable stories and the examples of how ACIM lessons can be applied to every day life. I rated only 4 stars as I felt this book still left me wanting more. I guess I will have to return to ACIM for that and this book has inspired me to do so.

This is the most helpful book I have ever read on ACIM
I highly recommend this audio version as well as the written book Alan Cohen is a joy to listen to, this book will help all who have struggled to read the ACIM written materials

Thanks.
Just thanks. To say anything else is superfluous. I'm glad I bought it. I'm glad I listened to it. I bought the workbook.

Truly life changing
The concepts within ACIM are so honest and pure, it really resonated with me in my journey to fully accept my authenticity. I could connect well with Alan Cohen's interpretation of the book as all his other books do. A definite read for anyone who wants more in their journey towards understanding their true purpose and of you're asking how to serve with love

Really enjoyed - easy to understand
I really enjoyed this book, it will be certainly one that I will continue to listen to over and over again. Made the course in miracles make sense and I enjoyed his examples. Great book 💕💕

Another winner from Alan Cohen
I am studying ACIM and I loved this in addition to the course which can be heavy going at times.
