I’m a Gemini. Impulsive. Curious. Headstrong. A twin. Heir to a throne I know nothing about. And it turns out, I’m Fae. But of course, there’s a catch - all I have to do to claim my birthright is prove that I’m the most powerful supernatural in the whole of Solaria. Triple Falls wasn’t at all what it seemed, nor were the men that swept me under their wing. But in order to keep them, I had to be in on their secrets. Secrets that cost us everything to keep. That’s the novelty of fiction versus reality. You can’t re-live your own love story, because by the time you’ve realized you’re living it, it’s over. At least that was the case for me and the men I trusted my foolish heart to. Looking back, I’m convinced I willed my story into existence, due to my illness, and all were punished.

Amazing story from SJM but performance a bit lackluster
The story itself is amazing. SJM does an incredible job with the story and immersion and I was thrilled to see a full cast performance. The overall performance was ok. Tamlin and Lucien did a wonderful job with their performances; however, it was difficult to distinguish between Feyre’s internal monologue versus her conversations with other characters. It wasn’t anything wrong with the performance, I think the editing was perhaps cut a bit too close. Some of the sound effects to denote “magic” were a bit silly, and I would have preferred to hear the description of voices rather than Feyre’s internal description after, particularly with the Attor, I think editing so you could hear the “pleas of victims” in the voice vs us being told that is what it sounds like after not very much not hearing it. As other reviewers have stated, Rhys’ voice doesn’t really match the description, not that the actor’s performance was bad, it’s just a bit of a mismatch. Lastly, it was sometimes difficult to appreciate the sound effects like grunts or talking behind closed doors because of Feyre’s loud internal monologue over it, but again I think that has more to do with the editing not the performance. Overall, I think the original narration is a better fit for the book as it is and this could have gone from three to five stars easy if some creative liberties were allowed for where to insert internal dialogue. For example, when we are presented with a scene change vs when it is unnecessary such as Feyre saying “he growled” after we just heard said character growl.
Finally, as other reviewers have also said, it is a little frustrating to have the performance in two parts rather than waiting for the entire performance to be released together.

Worth the credit
I have read the original series through twice and I love it, so I was hesitant to spend the credit on another rendition of the same audiobook I already own. But the performances were very good and I enjoyed the ambient sounds that added depth to the performances. the ambient sound was a bit off-putting in the first few minutes since I wasn't used to the extra noise beyond just the reading.
If you are new to the series or already like the series, I consider it worth the credit. I like the voice actors a lot, and I'm excited to see what they do with the rest of the books. The second book is my favorite so I'm excited to listen to that!

It’s good, but not great. Honestly, the cast of characters doesn’t seem to add anything to the experience. I enjoyed the addition of the music and sound effects, but I would rather listen to the first audiobook that was released.

Love it!
I loved hearing the voice actors bringing the story to life. They are exactly how I would imagine the characters. The only complaint I had was whenever there is winnowing/any sort of magic the sounds were very cheesy sounding but other than that wonderful performance and story

Good story, cringey narration
So there were things I really liked about the graphic audio version, and things I really disliked.
First, I loved the ambient sound effects. If they are near a stream, you hear water. If they walk up a path, you hear gravel underfoot. The sounds of dishes clinking, doors closing, chairs sliding out, etc, all help to really immerse you in the world and story. I also really enjoyed the casting of Tamlin and Lucien, the voice actors really embodied the characters.
Now, to what I didn't like.
1) The actor who voices Feyre annoys me so much, she reads with such a breathy voice, which might be appropriate for certain scenes, but everything she says sounds whiney and winded. Her S sounds are also very sharp, like a snake hissing.
2) When the characters kiss, they actually make kissing sounds. Its sloppy and loud, like gross ASMR.
3) Randomly during certain scenes, music will start playing to set the mood I guess. Not only is the music too loud and over powers the dialogue, but often it's just weird and doesn't fit, pulling me out of the scene.
4) Rhys is only briefly in part 1, but I didn't particularly enjoy his casting. His voice is higher and younger sounding, which doesn't fit with his dark and ominous reputation, in my opinion.
5) While listening I followed along with a physical copy of the book. Descriptions like "she laughed" are not spoken, but replaced with an actual laughing sound, which I understand. However there are instances where whole sentences are rearranged or left out entirely, which is strange to me. Did they have the permission of SJM to just omit whole lines from this audio?
If you're not picky about these types of things I'm sure you'll enjoy these graphic audio versions. In the future if they are on sale for dirt cheap I might buy the rest, but for now I'll stick to the original audiobooks.

I prefer the original audiobook
speed of voice actor or editing of narration is too quick and makes it hard to follow along. I did enjoy all of the actors performances. Sometimes is was hard to differentiate between Tamlin and Lucian, but I think that might have been due to editing. I hope they slow down the pacing for the next installment.

Disappointed!
I was excited to hear this dramatized version of this story. The narrators are terrific, sound effects are a bits distracting. Biggest issue is this only includes the first 5 chapters. This doesn’t even include the entrance of Rhys into the story. What a waste of a coveted audible credit. Skip it until the full story is released.

Too fast tempo
While the story is good and interesting I unfortunately struggle with the fast paced tempo of the narration. To me, it feels like I don't have time to comprehend and understand what is being read to me and I feel like I have missed a lot of details from the story.
If the narration was slower and there were allowed pauses here and there, especially when changing scenes, I would have given it five stars

Beauty and the beast vibes
The dramatised version is definitely the way to go. The background noises and music add to the atmosphere without taking away from the words.
It is a good fantasy story with decent world building. The story made me think of Beauty and the beast (origional story not Disney) I look forward to hearing part 2

Too much music
I really love this book, and i was over the moon when i saw this full cast and dramatised version but in my opinion too much music in the background for no reason. The original one iy much better.

Lovely music
Great dramatisation but the narrative can be quite rushed and slurred together at times, which can make it difficult to comprehend at times.

Great audiobook
I really enjoyed this book. Very enjoyable to listen along to. Just wish that the two parts of the story were together in one book.

Slow and boring
I've been listening to all the books by Shannon Mayer for months and absolutely love them. They tend to be quite action packed and exciting. Having nearly run out of everything by the author, I thought I would try somethibg different within the same genre (supernatural/urban fantasy). A Court Of Thorns and Roses seems to be highly recommended and popular, and based on the reviews thought I would enjoy it. However, it is mostly the inner dialogue of the main character, with little going on for long stretches, so I just found it really slow and dull. It's much more of a traditional romance novel and is a slow burn. The sexual tension builds at the end, which did leave me wanting to find out what happened next, but getting to that point was an endurance and I don't think I could tolerate it if it slowed down again. The performance was good, I'm a big fan of Graphic Audio productions and highly recommend them, but this particular series has not grabbed me unfortunately. I don't find myself caring much about the characters. It is a shame the book is divided into two parts. It could be that the second half is more interesting and it just takes some time to build and get going, but the first half was such a chore, I don't know if I want to waste money finding out.

A whole new experience
Loved it. Brings the story to life and creates more of an opportunity to become emotionally entangled with the characters and storyline.

A great way to relive the story!
This is a great way to relive the book (in anticipation of the tv series!). I think the characters voices matched perfectly and can’t wait for the next instalments- hopefully they don’t take too long!
