Publisher's Summary

"If you love historical drama…then look no further."

Boston Globe

Bernard Cornwell, the perennial New York Times bestselling author of the Richard Sharpe series and "perhaps the greatest writer of historical adventure novels today" (Washington Post) joins co-author Susannah Kells for A Crowning Mercy—a breathtaking romantic adventure set against the dramatic backdrop of the English Civil War. The exciting story of a rebellious Puritan woman on a perilous quest for love and fortune, A Crowning Mercy is a must for Cornwell fans as well as for devoted readers of Sharon Kay Penman and Diana Gabaldon.

Cornwell writing pseudonym

Cornwell’s efforts writing from woman’s perspective almost worked. No doubt if had thought it WAS a woman without knowing it was Richard Sharpe’s inventor it would have been 5 stars. I The suspense aspect was EXCELLENT… he had me to the very end. As it is I give it a solid 4.6, & unless a book is 4.6 I don’t read it. Too many good books too little time.

brilliant masterclass of writing perfection

Few books are as great as this one. This book contains everything you could want in a historical fiction novel.
From treasure, deceit, fighting, and love this book has it all. How this book doesn't have more reviews I will never know. Highly recommended

One of the BEST listens EVER!!

One of the best books-and best Audible books-I’ve ever read/listened to. It has everything! A love story, an adventure, despicable villains, the beauty of friendship. Everything! I loved every second of it and recommended it as highly as possible! Franklin, the narrator was utterly superb! Bravo!

The master of deus ex machina pull another great story out of the hat!

The story has a slow start and a stellar finale! No one does deus ex machina as well as Cornwell and pull them(yes, them) off so masterfully! A little more melodramatic and with softer edges than prior books Cornwell and Kells conjure up a tail that appeals to men and woman readers.

I thought it would be more historical as Bernard Cornwall does so welll

I thought it would be more historical, but it is a romantic, sort of mystery. Just okay in my opinion.

Excellent Ending

I'm usually way ahead of the plot with most books and movies, but I didn't expect that final twist. Very nice.
