Story
Cassandra Pomfret holds strong opinions she isn’t shy about voicing. But her extremely plain speaking has caused an uproar, and her exasperated father, hoping a husband will rein her in, has ruled that her beloved sister can’t marry until Cassandra does. Now, thanks to a certain nobleman, the last shreds of Cassandra’s reputation are about to disintegrate. The Duke of Ashmont’s looks make women swoon. His character flaws are beyond counting. Still, troublemaker that he is, he knows that damaging a lady’s name isn’t sporting. The only way to right the wrong is to marry her.

Publisher's Summary
Not all dukes are created equal. Most are upstanding members of society. And then there's the trio known as Their Dis-Graces.
Hugh Philemon Ancaster, seventh Duke of Ripley, will never win prizes for virtue. But even he draws the line at running off with his best friend's bride. All he's trying to do is recapture the slightly inebriated Lady Olympia Hightower and return her to her intended bridegroom.
For reasons that elude her, bookish, bespectacled Olympia is supposed to marry a gorgeous rake of a duke. The ton is flabbergasted. Her family's ecstatic. And Olympia? She's climbing out of a window, bent on a getaway. But tall, dark, and exasperating Ripley is hot on her trail, determined to bring her back to his friend. For once, the world-famous hellion is trying to do the honorable thing.
So why does Olympia have to make it so deliciously difficult for him?

Wonderfully humorous and entertaining!
Loretta Chase has done it again! The story is an entertaining and witty with situations that had the main characters responding to circumstances that left me laughing out loud. The heroine/hero are characters that you want to know personally as they both are intelligent and extremely humorous. It is one of those books you just can’t put down!

Loretta does it again. I love the way she writes, her dialogues are hilarious. Lord Perfect is still my favorite with Last Nights Scandal coming in next or is Lord of Scoundrels second. If you haven't listened to her books give them a try. I love a good laugh with my romance.

A New Favorite
I love Loretta Chase, and this may be my new favorite of her books.
Though, to be honest, I didn't expect it to be. This kind of story with a love triangle is usually not my thing. I usually appreciate the fact that there is an underlying danger or other story present in her books as well.
But I was really captivated by Olympia, being a girl who loves to read and it always pragmatic, I loved seeing her journey. It made my heart ache to see her torn between duty to her family, and a desire to truly finally be herself. I really loved the moments of laughter and joy shared by the two protaganists and caught myself laughing along with them many times.
I can't wait for the rest of these Difficult Duke books, and I know I will be listening to this one again.

It drags ....
I had to give up 5 hours in as literally nothing has happened since Lady Olympia’s escape out the window. A bunch of stops and starts along the way that add nothing to the story and I’m bored beyond belief. Kate Reading’s always excellent narration can’t save this snooze fest for me, sadly.
This is nothing like Lord of Scoundrels.

Another gem from Loretta Chase and Kate Reading
Once again, Chase knocks it out of the park. Reading's incredible performance elevates this delightful tale to the platinum standard, as usual. I've said it before....Chase and Reading together have a special alchemy that borders on the magical. Together they create a listening experience that defies gravity. Chase's words and Reading's voice equal perfection in my opinion. Rock on, Ladies!
This is yet another smart, funny, sexy-as-hell romance from Chase, at least as good as everything else she's ever written, if not better. There's a very smart woman, a duke who is more than a bit reckless, a large dog, a duel, an aunt with a sharp tongue and a sharper eye, and laughs galore. There are also two other dukes who figure large here and I suppose will get their own stories soon, but not soon enough for me!
If you like historical romance, if you like sexy romance, if you like funny romance, this is up your alley. Chase is an auto buy for me, I've had this on pre-order for months and listened to it immediately. Now I want to listen it again! I adored it, will listen to it often, and am only sad that I have to wait months for volume two in this new series.

Delightful
Setting: Various sites, England June 1833
Genre: Romance
Lady Olympia Hightower, a 26 year old spinster (known in the Beau Monde as the most boring debutant), finds herself inexplicably engaged to the Duke of Ashmont (AKA His Grace with the Angel Face). Society is astonished and Olympia’s family is ecstatic. Olympia, on the other hand, is climbing out the window in her wedding finery. The Duke of Ripley, one of Ashmont’s best friends, had been charged by the groom to make sure the wedding goes off without a hitch. When he catches Olympia trying to make her escape he goes after her. What follows is a road trip kind of story, filled with hilarious situations and funny dialogue. Over the course of a few days they find themselves falling in lust — and maybe even love.
This book is a delight. The plot is tight, the prose effortlessly correct, the sex scenes are well done, and the characters are fully fleshed out and likable. Even the secondary characters are engaging.
Kate Reading is a wonderful narrator. Each character has a distinct voice that is consistent throughout, and she performs both male and female characters well.
The only thing I regret about reading this is that it is the first book in a trilogy and the second isn’t coming out until later this year. But at least I didn’t listen to it in 2017 when it first came out, because a 2 year wait would have been frustrating. I just hope it isn’t 2 years between the second and third books!

Tedious
After 90 minutes I had to give up. I love many of Loretta Chase's books, but this one is sadly lacking in pace, plot and dialogue. I can cope with the usual romance tropes, ie recent chastity of male protagonist, hidden beauty in almost on the shelf bookish virgin. Multiple contradictions or a lack of proof reading added to the lack of good writing, left me unable to force myself to the all too predictable end. Lord of Scoundrels will be reread to help me forget this unfortunate production.
