Publisher's Summary

She was born to lead London Society. He could not leave it fast enough.

With a few well-placed words in the right ear, Anna Tunstall can direct anyone to do her bidding, exactly the skill needed for one destined to be the wife of a man in politics. A summer visit to a friend’s country estate is the perfect distraction before the London Season begins, and Anna can achieve her ambition of a perfect match.

Harry Aston has spurned the noble aspirations of his family to enter holy orders where he might make a difference in people’s lives. His mother’s untiring attempts to find him a wife worthy - and wealthy - enough to suit him only serve to set up his back. He has never been in love, and she should not think that suitable wives dropped down from heaven, especially not in the village of Avebury.

When Harry finds Anna unconscious on the road, and she awakens in his arms, his world shifts at her gaze. But before he can think that heaven has come through at last, he must convince Anna that her prolonged stay in Avebury is not fate’s way of toying with her, but rather opening her eyes to a new direction for her ambitions - and her heart.

Just Right

Very enjoyable! Just the right amount of tension and humor. Delightful characters. The narrator still has a few Regency terms that are pronounced differently than I've heard before, but has a very nice voice and good delivery of humorous dialogue.

Great listen

I enjoyed the book very much. I especially found the inner struggle of Anna real and relevant. Which is why I was a bit disappointed not to have some resolution to it. How are they resolving her love of the big city? LOVED the narrator.

Background noise

Love this book and the extra story lines of the supporting characters.

A couple different points in the narration there is background noise for a very short time. Almost sounds like birds? But the story was good enough to overlook them!

Upbeat and pleasant

I liked both main characters. The story was okay if a little slow and unfocused. The upbeat and humorous tone of the narrator was pleasant, though she did mispronounce several basic regency words. I always appreciate clean romances with a little mystery. I’d rate it an extra star if it had kept my attention better.

Excellent

What she thought she was born to do, quickly changed when on a vacation, and caught the eye of a man wanting to keep her there. Enjoyable with good narration

Enjoyable romance

I just listened to the audio version of this book and enjoyed it. The narration was very good. I'd read the book once before.
My fav character in this story was Harry by a long shot. He is not your typical rector. So often they are depicted as overly pious or dark, or even evil. Harry is a good person and very loveable. Anna, on the other hand, starts out as shallow and pretty snotty really. I didn't like her at all and wondered what someone like Harry would see in her. She got better over the course of the story but it took a long time for me to even like her at all. Though I think she grew to look beyond herself and see what good things she could do in her life, I'm not convinced that she will be satisfied with country life long term. Makes me wonder if there will be discontent down the road.

The book has several sub stories that add to the HEA aspect but it maybe tied up a little too neatly.

Sex: no, some mild innuendo
Language: no
Violence: some, mild

Great story

I really enjoyed this story. It’s a great one to realize we are all worthy to overcome bad habits, bad choices, and unwise judgment-That we are all able to love and be loved.

Disappointing

Pros: clean Regency romance
Cons: I didn't like the heroine Anna, she's shallow and selfish. I found the story a bit boring and it was difficult to finish. Disappointed since I paid $'s for it. I wouldn't listen to this book again and will delete it from my library.
I've listened to other books by this author and enjoyed them, but I don't recommend this book.
