I love being back in Stoneybrook!
I love finding myself back in Stoneybrook, a small town located in the Washington Cascades. A place that's very close to my own home and heart. As you already know if you've been reading this cozy mystery series, Stoneybrook is a town that thrives on gossip. Hadley is a young woman who knows how to lay low and tap into that resource. It's only with her help that her brother Paul, the cop on the beat, can find the answers to the questions people don't like to answer. And, there's nothing that gets Stoneybrook's lips flapping faster then a very public murder... a murder by a poisoned pie, during a cooking contest!
I think that this is my favorite Stoneybrook story so far. The mystery is tightly written, which is somewhat atypical of the cozy-mystery genre... so you're definitely going to want to grab A Flakey Alibi, and see what Hadley, Luke, and Paul find out.
Jennifer Jill Araya, as usual, did a bang-up job narrating this one!
Oh, and if you need a good shortbread recipe stay tuned at the end! 😊

This is a cozy mystery and one that I found thoroughly entertaining. I love this series from Eryn Scott and the narrator, Jennifer Jill Araya did a fabulous job bringing the cast of characters to life for me and certainly added to my listening pleasure. This was a book filled with enough secrets and clues to keep you guessing until the end.
I love the sound of Stoneybrook and would love to live or visit there. It sounds like a great place to be.
There were twists, turns and surprises in A Flaky Alibi Death as Hadley, her brother and her best friends follow the clues and I have to say that I was taken by surprise and I cannot wait for more in this series.

Sometimes baking can be murder...
Ahhh, back in Stoneybrook with Hadley, Paul, Luke, and Suzanne. And, of course, mystery is afoot! This time in the kitchen! But what could go wrong during a cooking competition where everything is closely monitored? Well, where Hadley is murder will soon follow!
I had a lot of fun listening to A Flaky Alibi. First, all that scrumptious sounding food totally made me hungry! And second, Eryn Scott led me on a merry chase trying to figure out who the killer was! I had some close guesses early on but it wasn't until nearly the end that I finally put 2 and 2 together. And then there were some surprises in the romance department for certain characters which was icing on the cake.
As a cat lover from way back, one of my favorite things about the Stoneybrook Mystery series is that in each one Hadley helps a different kitty cat. When I start a new title I always wonder where the cat or kitten will pop up and I enjoy 'looking' for them.
As for the audiobook itself, the production was good and the returning narrator was well chosen. If you are a fan of cozy mysteries A Flaky Alibi and the rest the books in Eryn Scott's charming A Stonebrook Mystery series would be a great reading or listening choice.
(I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher. All opinions are entirely my own.)

Nothing flaky about this plot line
I enjoyed this story but word of warning not a story to listen to if you are on a diet or are hungry because they story contains lots of sweet sounding treats and also includes recipes at the end of the book. Other than that it was good, a nice little mystery with lots of suspects and alibi's to keep you guessing. The characters are fun and the romance is sweetly blossoming. I hope there are more books to come in this series.
Hadley and Luke are both judges in the annual Grande bake off. Hadley is finding it hard not to be bias and favour her friend who is one of the contestants but that all changes when the baker that looks like he would win is killed. Did Hadley's friend really have a reason to kill the man? Or was it the last contestant who was eliminated ? Who also accused him of cheating? Or is it the only friends the man seems to have, his own employees? Or the actual host of the bake off who missed out on a job to the dead man? With all these motives Hadley and Luke still fear for there friend especially when they find out what the killer pie was made in and decide to help out the police by finding out the real killer.
I liked the narrator and thought she did a good job with all the different voices need to make this book a sweet cozy mystery.
