Great Narration and Adventure

I loved listening to this adventurous brit. I'm putting move to England to putter about on a small boat on my bucket list, and found myself pulling up many a google map image or satellite to really capture the place.

Is there a better community than that of the sailing world? Perhaps only that of the 1970s, but I suspect this could be done today by an adventurous soul. Best of luck to you Neil.

Perfect audiobook for sailors

The narration was spot on and the story itself wonderful! Even better is that it’s not too long a book so can be enjoyed in a week or so without losing interest at all! Two thumbs up!

Engaging Sea Tale

The best books I have ever read seem to be about the sea. The drama of man or woman against the immensity of the Ocean is true adventure. I loved Neil's honest account of his ambitious project to master seamanship and sailing. He shares the mechanics and misgivings , while he takes us along for a great sail.

Need a wake up call?

I loved, and needed, this story. I too have dreams of wandering the globe under sail one day, but have found myself stuck holding onto things that I must let go of to leave land life behind. Things that don’t make me happier or fulfilled and drain away my energy and steal from me the last of my youth. What a reminder to not fall into the trap of normality, lest I be gripped by regret for lost years and youth later in my life. The ending really spoke to me.

Thank you, Neil.

Not bad

Not a bad story at all. I’ve met people in life who remind me of the author and it is eye opening to be in the sea alone and understand the true power of bad weather. All is well that ends well. I hope he keeps writing.

A great listen and a reminder of sailing happiness

Neil's account of how he found happiness owning and caring for a small sailing boat is a motivating reminder of how little we really need in life to become happy.

Great sailing story but…

Really enjoyed this tale and the narration was good, but the consistent mangling and mispronunciation of place names and sailing terms was a frustrating distraction.

Foolish applies both to the author and narrator

Struggled to deal with the author's inadequacies and the narrator's ludicrous pronunciation of even non-sailing terms.

lNSPIRING

A thoroughly good story, the author never gave up his dreams. It is a story of overcoming negatives for positives.
