Publisher's Summary

From the author of Sing Me Forgotten comes a lush new fantasy novel with an art-based magic system, romance, and murder....

Myra has a gift many would kidnap, blackmail, and worse to control: She’s a portrait artist whose paintings alter people’s bodies. Guarding that secret is the only way to keep her younger sister safe now that their parents are gone. But one frigid night, the governor’s wife discovers the truth and threatens to expose Myra if she does not complete a special portrait that would resurrect the governor's dead son.

Once she arrives at the legendary stone mansion, however, it becomes clear the boy’s death was no accident. A killer stalks these halls - one disturbingly obsessed with portrait magic. Desperate to get out of the manor as quickly as possible, Myra turns to the governor’s older son for help completing the painting before the secret she spent her life concealing makes her the killer’s next victim.

loved it ☺️

saw an ad on Facebook for this and waited a month for it to come out. I truly enjoyed the story and loved the twist at the end. Also I found that having art as a power a refreshing aspect that I haven't read about before and gave the story a creative feel. I really hope that there will be a second one

Very Enjoyable

I really enjoyed this story! I loved Lucy and Myra’s relationship, and I liked the mystery surrounding everything with Will. The religion of the world was very interesting as well. And, I have to be honest, Vincent was a particular favorite.

Here’s hoping there’s a sequel, since the ending does set one up, and I would love to see more of this world and these characters!

A great experience

I truly enjoyed this book, even if it is outside my comfort zone. The art and painting mixed with magic make a decadent and mysterious tale. The characters are very well developed and it is extremely inventive. A bit dark at times and a little too creepy for my personal taste. But a great performance too
