Publisher's Summary

Vampire Cat Crawfield is experiencing a new role as a mother. Turns out, trying to manage a perfect domestic life for her daughter is more...challenging than Cat ever imagined. Since things have finally quieted down in the undead world, her husband, Bones, suggests that Cat recharge by spending a girls-only getaway with her best friend, Denise.

Cat and Denise intend to spend the week doing nothing more than dancing, drinking, and sightseeing. Unfortunately, they stumble across a deadly summer solstice ritual performed by powerful witches who have no intention of letting their uninvited guests live to reveal what they saw. Will this girls-only getaway turn out to be the last vacation - ever! - for Cat and Denise?

Simply disappointing

I was delighted to see a new story and there were a few snippets of the beloved character dialog but this one was not great. Due to shortness of the story, the manufactured, overly dramatic performance was too much. I’d suggest waiting for a sale, it’s not worth the current cost and in no way worth a credit.

Great addition to the series!

The Night Huntress Series by Jeaniene Frost is my favorite paranormal series by a landslide, in fact, it may be my favorite book series in general. So I will take any scraps of Cat and Bones I can, even if it’s a short novella.

A Grave Girls’ Getaway is a quick weekend away with Cat Crawford and her best friend Denise. Bones isn’t in this one a lot, but I still loved it. It is so fantastic being back in this world again! Every time I visit I’m reminded how much I love it and miss the excitement this series brought.

This novella was not short on that excitement. Cat was wound tightly and in need of a vacation away from her new role as a mother. Bones convinced her to take her first girl’s weekend, but she is a magnet for trouble. She thought she was saving a young man, but instead interrupted a ritual by some of the most powerful witches.

I loved everything about A Grave Girls' Getaway! It was a full story with a lot of action for such a short book. My only complaint is Jeaniene Frost’s books are fast reads to begin with, this one was over WAY, WAY TOO FAST. I WANT MORE!

The Narration:
Tavia Gilbert is synonymous to Cat for me, but this one grated on my nerves a bit— there was a lot of fast, exciting scenes, and I found her voice got a little shrill a few times and I needed a break. I still love her as Cat though.

Rating: 4.5 Novella Stars, 3.5 Narration This was a girls weekend, so no sex on page.

I want more!

This novella, along with all the Night Huntress World books, are the equivalent of what Red Dragon is to vampires. Insatiable! I loved this one and I didn't want it to end. Cat and Denise as a team was such a pleasure to listen to! The storyline was interesting and I've always loved Denise and her powers. This book made me realize how badly I want to see more books with her as the central character, where she continues to learn how to fight and kick ass. I really hope Jeanine Frost hasn't quit writing about this universe. There's so much storyline potential, between the characters dealing with the legalization of magic aftermath and also potential character development for Denise and Katie.

As always, Tavis Gilbert gave a fantastic performance. She's one of my favorite narrators and she never disappoints.

6 Stars

I am so happy! My face actually hurt from smiling while listening to this book. A Grave Girls' Getaway is book 7.6, a short novella, from the Night Huntress series. This is one of my favorite series of all time and it has been completed for a while now, so having a chance to check back in with main characters Cat and Bones and side characters Spade and Denise. It is truly like coming home to family, a family you like, again and made my heart happy. As usual, there was plenty of action, adventure, and excitement. The narration was fantastic as with all of Tavia's readings of this series. I will listen to this book again. I highly recommend this series for anyone who enjoys urban fantasy, paranormal, and romance. 6 stars.

Great story

I loved this story. I have all the Night huntress books and I always want the the books to never finish. This book is so special. I laughed and cried. It really gave more insight into the struggle Cat has being a mother . I think all mothers can relate to the insecurities of raising a child. It shows the growth Cat has made at allowing herself to be herself. Cat is such a tough cookie with a heart of gold.

another triumph for Frost, albeit a short one

I did enjoy this short story, like some of her others. I hope she writes more of these and even more anthology stories.

The narrator ruined this

It was an interesting story. However, the narration ruined it for me. That was the worst British accent ever! She made Bones sound like an idiot - not the sexy and extremely powerful vampire that he is. Also, there was no sense of maturity to Cat. After all she's been through, it was hard to accept that she would blunder into a situation like an untrained fool. Anyway, to the audio book publishers, please, for the love of all, re-record this using someone with talent!!!

could have been better

I am pleased I used my credit to get this audio book, I would have been disappointed otherwise.
Good story, just found it lacking in places.
Usually I'm all in with Frost, as I have never been disappointed before.
Hopefully next time will be better.

The long awaited return

Another book about cat and bones. Again without even trying their is no way you can pick up this short story and put it down.
