The suspicious death of Dante Bartholomew's wife changed him, especially in the eyes of the residents of St. Giles. They no longer see a successful businessman...only a monster they believe was involved. Dante's horrific reputation eclipses the truth to the point that he sees no choice but to isolate himself and his heart. Finally! An Andrew Grey Surprise!
- By Candateshia Pafford on 05-22-16
By: Andrew Grey
Publisher's Summary
If Peter Christopoulos has learned one thing from his last three years in a wheelchair, it’s that people have a hard time seeing past the hardware. When he asks out Russ Baker after giving him a quote on equipment for a new Greek restaurant, he’s disappointed but not surprised to be turned down.
Russ has been covering for his abusive boyfriend for so long it’s almost automatic, but with a little help from his friends, he finds the courage to break it off. To his surprise, Peter is still interested, and soon they’re falling hard and fast. But then their world is thrown into turmoil: Peter finds an old letter indicating he has a half sister he's never met, and Russ's past interferes when his ex makes it clear he'll do anything to get him back.

Sweet story, but not a favorite
This was a nice romance, but I didn’t really see any chemistry. The words were there, but no emotion. Jeff Gelder is a good reader, but I felt the whole way through that he really was just reading a story out loud. Some narrators make you really be able to feel the emotions, but in this case the reading seemed more mechanical, and a bit too fast and clipped. Reading it might have been better.

sweet romantic story
Any additional comments?
I did like it, but I wanted more. Of what? I am not sure. Maybe of Peter and Russ getting to know each other without Barry always being brought up?
Two plot points disappointed me a little: we never really found out what happened with Barry. Did he stop stalking Russ or did he continue?
The other thing I wasn't wowed with was Peter's story line involving his long lost half-sister. It would have been fine if he had just set our to find her, but when she is found...and when her connection to another key person in the story is revealed, it seemed a little beyond belief. Granted, this is fiction, so not everything has to be realistic, but this seemed little too coincidental.

Story
A retired marine, Logan is methodical and conservative. Richard is a liberal pacifist who is pathologically afraid of guns. Yet the minute Logan sets eyes on Richard, his heart turns over like an old car engine, and it isn't long before his motor is revved and Richard is in the driver's seat - even if it seems like each man is driving a different car. Richard Hunter is parenting his grandson, and the kid - Nick - has had it rough. Richard vows nothing will stop him from creating a loving and stable home.

Life is a series of events, one leading you to another. The hell I lived through with my drug-addicted parents led me to the Marine Corps. Committing my life to my country was easy. My brothers were my family - all I had and all I needed. I wasn’t looking for her, but I should have known life had other plans. It led me to her.
