Story
Some form of devilry has come over Mr. Darcy. Since his father’s death, Fitzwilliam Darcy has endeavored to be reliable, responsible, and restrained. But upon visiting Netherfield Park in Hertfordshire, he finds himself weary of the struggle to be so damnably well regulated and delights in a revival of the carefree mischief that characterized his younger days. What brings on this sudden reversal? Perhaps it is a shocking incident that takes place upon his first entering the neighborhood when he rescues Miss Elizabeth Bennet from the raging current of a rain-swollen stream.

Story
Elizabeth Bennet travels to Kent to escape her mother’s histrionics, hopeful to find respite in visiting her oldest friend, Charlotte Collins. Instead of the reprieve she desired, she finds herself trapped and miserable. Elizabeth’s only relief is derived from her morning rambles, where she finds great solace in the strangest of places—walking with Mr. Darcy. His steadiness, kindness, and dependability greatly oppose her previous perceptions of the man, and yet she cannot help but continue to compare his character in Kent with the man she had supposed him to be in Hertfordshire.

Publisher's Summary
"You could not have made me the offer of your hand in any possible way that would have tempted me to accept it." (Jane Austen)
Reeling from the unexpected rejection of his proposal, Fitzwilliam Darcy prepares to quit Hunsford for London, but not before he defends himself against Elizabeth Bennet's accusations. He cannot forgive her harsh words; her assertion Mr. Wickham would have made a better son has cut him to the core.
Suffering an accident while delivering the fated letter, he wakes to a world he does not know - and to those who do not recognize him. With a new life, a different name, and a fresh chance at winning the woman he loves, Darcy must decide which is A Life Worth Choosing - the past he remembers or a future he has created for himself.
This Regency variation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice by best-selling author Anngela Schroeder, is appropriate for all who wish to lose themselves on another path towards Darcy and Elizabeth’s happily ever after.

A JAFF Worth Choosing
I really enjoyed this variation. It was a great choice for my credit.
I’m used to Stevie Zimmerman being my favorite JAFF narrator, but Elizabeth Grace was wonderful. I may need to rethink the top spot!
(Spoiler: My only criticism would be that I wish Darcy had been forced to choose between his two lives and risk losing Elizabeth to save everyone else. There seemed to be little in the way of choosing his future.)
