Story
Accountant and financial advisor Lacey Chamberlain doesn't consider herself a control freak. She's merely a planner-orderly, neat, and content in her tidy little life. When a marketing firm moves into the empty office next door, the loud-music-playing, stinky-food-ordering, kickball-in-the-hall staff make Lacey crazy. Marketing expert Alicia Wright is spontaneous, flies by the seat of her pants, and lives in the moment-all the things Lacey is not. She's also gorgeous, thoughtful, and seems determined to make Lacey like her. They say opposites attract, but for how long? And is that really a good idea?

Sutton Spencer's ideas for her life were fairly simple: finish graduate school and fall in love. It would be a lot simpler if she could pinpoint exactly what she should do when she graduates in less than a year. Oh, and if she could figure out how to talk to a woman without feeling like a total mess, that would be great, too. Charlotte Thompson is very much the opposite.

Publisher's Summary
Andrea Blake's life has order. Everything is meticulously laid out and planned, from her house in its quiet neighborhood to her career path at Hagan's, the largest supermarket chain in the Northeast. Andrea knows what she wants.
Enter Kendall Foster, the distractingly attractive woman in charge of sales for her family's local microbrewery and somebody who wants very much to get her beer onto Hagan's shelves. A decision that happens to be Andrea's. The physical attraction is immediate and hard to resist, but Andrea doesn't need a complication like Kendall in her life, not when she's rocketing toward predictable security.
But Kendall is fun. And smart. And oh, so sexy. Can she convince Andrea that her rather flat, flavorless life could be way better with just a little bit of spice?

Another winner by Georgia Beers
I’ve been on a Georgia Beers audiobook marathon and have been enjoying the variety in her stories. This one, two very opposite women who seem to intensely dislike each other, yet somehow find common ground and love. The sex scenes are hot and delicious. Had to bookmark some so I could go back & listen to them. (Come on, you know you do, too)!
I love the depth of the characters and their families. Very true to life.

Great book with one exception
Abby Craden, once again you are wonderful.
I do not write many reviews considering the number of books I read and listen to but once in a while I like giving my thoughts on a book.
I did enjoy this story with one exception and mainly it is because of personal experience.
In this case myself and my partner were in a similar situation as depicted in this book. We had only known each other and been going out with each other for a short time when a job opportunity landed in her lap that would require her to move to Arizona which is a long way from Missouri. The first words out of my mouth were, “do you want to take the job and what does this mean for us?” We talked about our feelings for each other and how our budding relationship could be affected. We had both been looking for someone we could connect with for years and hoped we had found the person we were looking for. Where we totally sure about each other? No, but we talked about how we could continue our relationship and the different ways we could do it and we did not wait until the last minute to bring up the subject because we wanted to continue with our relationship and see where it would take us.
Andrea is offered a position to manage a store that will require her to move.
During this point in the story I was just shaking my head wondering why these two smart women who have come to care about each other beyond great sex are not talking about the consequences this will have on their relationship. Why does the author put it on Kendall’s shoulders to force Andrea to make her decision three days before her deadline when they have both had nearly two months to talk and plan? I can see Kendall as being the type of person who would think that if you love them then let them go and although it breaks her heart that is what she does. I can also see Andrea being a take charge control freak and asking Kendall to go with her but not three days before she is supposed to give her decision.
I cannot see Andrea or Kendall being the type of person to wait until three days before this life changing decision had to be made to open their mouth and say “lets talk about what this means for us and our relationship.” Never did they talk about how it would affect their relationship.
This is the only thing that really bothered me in this book and it bothered me mainly because myself and my partner went through a similar situation in our relationship.
I can understand how emotions can play on how people think and make decisions in relationships. Love makes us sometimes say and do stupid things to those we love but when written in a book it is so much better when it is more believable. To have so much time to make a decision and wait until what is essentially the last minute to even talk about how it will affect a relationship between two people who both know about it is simply unbelievable to me.

great standard romance
This was a standard f/f romance with the usual plot devices and conclusions. it's an easy and enjoyable read with a great narrator who brought the charters and emotions alive. my only problem with the story came near the end. spoiler alert. I really didn't like the fact that Kendall was vilified for doing the right thing and absolutely zero blame was put on Andrea for not fighting for their relationship at all. she just throws her hands up in a huff and storms out. I mean if I were Kendall and that had just happened I would have felt like Andrea put no real value on their relationship. at least Andrea cared enough to try to do the right thing. sorry for getting on my soap box.

Alternate Version Maybe?
I'm guessing that "A Little Bit of Spice" began it's literary life as an alternate version of "Too Close To Touch." After all the plot's the same, the setting's the same and the ending's the same. Which doesn't have to be a negative; the the lead characters are, for the most part, well written and eventually likable (Andrea.) The supporting characters, with the exception of Julie and Andrea's mother are well written. The narrative doesn't stray far from the typical romance novel, but neither does it go too far outside the realm of reality. The information about beer and it's brewing is a nice touch as are Kendall's family dynamics and the way the Foster family is warm and loving without the author resorting to the same tired literary cliches as they almost always do. The obligatory breakup scene, a staple of the genre, is predictable and contrived as it almost always is, and the ending is entirely predictable. Still, this is a feel good story and an easy listen and not a bad way to spend a few hours.

Quandary of Ethics and Love
I listened to Too Close to Touch, the previous story of Kaily, Gretchen, and their ethical dilemma, three times. This story is shorter, but just as intense. As in Too Close, Kendal and Andrea have strong work ethics and senses or propriety. On the one hand, perhaps the reader might want wistful fantasy, propriety be darned! That's not reality, though. The fantasy is of two women finding their way to each other's hearts in the most pleasant of realities... Girl meets girl. Girls, amidst strong pulls and amazing chemistry work to do right by each other, striving for respect for one another's years of goals and efforts. Having someone not sublimate my life's work is a pretty good fantasy, as far as I'm concerned.

Predictable Pulp
Neither great nor bad. A predictable women's romance that won't have you reaching for tissues, yet again once they have become a couple the book ends-do authors never consider that having listened to the build up and get together, we might like to know how the relationship succeeds without having to assume it, no deep emotion is delved into, no explicit scenes will move you, but you won't be waiting for it to end as with similar novels in this calibre and genre. It is what it is. It's not going to move you like Carol, or have you laughing like Gravity between us, but it's not the worst I've heard.
Has a few less of the ridiculous women's names so prevalent in modern novels which helps.
A one time is enough listen. Adequate.

my first Georgia Beers book as a huge Abby Craden fan, delicious narrator, and NOT disappointed, sometimes you can't stop love even when two women hate each other, story is well crafted and beautifully written with believable characters and life situations, my favourite part is the conversation between kendal and her big brother, as a big brother myself with a little sister I cried . The characters really made me feel part of their experiences... every emotion, some so raw...
When it came to words unspoken, it's asif I was waiting for them both to be free and find that passion and love they have to express verbally ... "we have all been there"
I loved the naughtiness, the intense passion they feel every time they touch...
I look forward to your other work... and Abby, wow... how you become those characters with such individuality, expressing every emotion... I absolutely adore your voice... and your talent...

A racey intriguing association og surprise
Eloquently read with inspiring, sensitive, seductive, surprising, surreptitious dialogue that blows some intimate writing out of the park. Unequivocally inspiring, evocative, erotic and seductive writing brings the charaters to life in a real and heartfelt dialogue. A tribute to great lesbian relationship dilemma.
