Publisher's Summary

The first time somebody tried to kill him was an accident.

The second time was deliberate.

Now Paul Mulchrone finds himself on the run with nobody to turn to except a nurse who has read one-too-many crime novels and a renegade copper with a penchant for violence. Together they must solve one of the most notorious crimes in Irish history.

Or else they’ll be history.

A Man with One of Those Faces is the first book in Caimh McDonnell's critically acclaimed Dublin Trilogy series, which melds fast-paced action with a distinctly Irish acerbic wit.

Not easily pleased

I could write a thousand words about how great this book is. Let it suffice to say, after reading it, I couldn't wait to slap down whatever it cost to hear this book read to me! I'm old, crotchety, poor, and no longer easily amused, but really wanted this story to last a LOT longer. I enjoyed the company of the characters, the character of the setting, and truly wanted to be a part of the action. But I settled for enjoying the plot vicariously.
You will NOT be wasting your money or time while enjoying the Heck out of this book!!!!
Look for more by Caimh!

Read Angels in the Moonlight First.

I had already read Angels in the Moonlight, A Man With One of Those Faces, and part of The Day That Never Comes (on Kindle) when I discovered Audible was making these available. I was so excited!! I recommend reading Angels in the Moonlight first, which I did, and it turns out to be the prequel, though it is book 3 in the trilogy of 4. Confusing? Yes. As of this writing, Angels is not yet available on Audible so go get it on Kindle. You won't be sorry. It is the one that gives you a much better understanding of the Bunny character and enables you to read the others with more enjoyment. It is also the best one. Mr. McDonnell has a talent for spinning a good tale with great descriptions but also mixes wonderful wit with murder and mayhem. His one-liners will make you wish you could remember them to use yourself. I have mixed feelings about the performance. The reader has an excellent voice and does the characters well, but I was disappointed in Bunny. I wanted him to have a stronger, more growly voice. This is probably because I had already created an image of Bunny when I read the books in print. Overall, I greatly enjoy everything I have read so far from Caimh McDonnell. More, please.

Listen, you won’t be disappointed

An excellent, complex and well written story with engaging characters that you care about and a generous amount of humor to keep it fun, performed by the phenomenal Morgan C Jones who does a wonderful job on the voices and accents. Caimh McDonnell is an excellent writer and it’s well worth reading all of his books. I’m envious of the lucky ones who are just discovering his works for the first time. Enjoy!

Charming Characters and Excellent Writing

Characters I loved and a plot that was compelling. There were moments that made me laugh out loud, and the writing in this book reminds of how important the art of writing truly is in making a book a great read.

Irish Mayhem

I originally got this as a Kindle First Read or maybe it was on Prime, but at any rate the combination of the title and the low price appealed. I'm not sure whether the adjective gormless is an Irish term - but in any event it applies to the chronically confused and set upon MWOoTF, who only needs the redoubtable Briget to bring focus to his life.

I was so glad to find it on Audible, and now it's sequel, which finds The Man no less confused and the situations just as funny. Yes, funny in a ha ha sense. I don't laugh aloud at books very often, but this one had me from the start, with a very good crime/mystery as well.

Outstanding

First of all..I am a huge fan of the books. Genuinely funny but also plausible characters and situations, not something you always see in humorous stories. I loved the characters and so wanted the audio version to be as good.
Well..the choice of narrator, Mr Morgan C Jones is inspired. Clearly a man of a thousand voices, he brings each of the characters to life and of course the Irish accents serve to make the whole thing even more enjoyable.
In particular, Bunny is a real tour de force. Its consistently funny. but some scenes are downright hilarious...particularly the scene where the Solicitor gets a visit from a henchman.
Its crying out for Amazon or Netflix to make a TV series...can I suggest Brendan Gleeson for the part of Bunny McGarry.
Dont hesitate , buy this book...and the really good news.....the others books are coming to a set of ears near you soon.

Delightful book & brilliant narrator

I really enjoyed this audio book. The characters were unusual, the plot was good & there was plenty of excitement mixed with humour. I hope there are more books to follow.

The narrator was the best I have ever listened to. I shall also search for any other books he has narrated.

Bunny Rules

This was my first Caimh MaDonnell novel but it won't be my last as I look forward to listening to all the author's work. Thrilling and funny don't always go together well but in this novel the balance is nigh on perfect. The leads are okay but it is Bunny McGarry who steals the show and makes the series worth continuing with.

A Joy to listen to

I found myself not giving a damn about the plot, I just wanted more and more from these characters.

Lovely writing, funny and well paced. The narration was spot on.

I hope the other books in the series will be available on Audible soon.

A laugh out loud crime caper with Irish wit

A fabulous and laugh out loud funny crime caper with some tender moments. The characters are brilliantly portrayed in an array of voices by the narrator. Keeps you wondering and on your toes until the end with lots of twists along the way.

Great story

This was a great story with brilliantly written characters & situations. It would make a fantastic comedy/action thriller movie. The narration was fantastic, I can’t comment on the actual accuracy of the Irish accents but they sounded good to me. Can’t wait to listen to the next book.

just the one, stop anytime i want

i promised myself not to get addicted to this series; cause the stranger times on Audible got me hooked on Caimhs writing & i have prepaid the 3rd in the series.

i was thinking they couldn't do it in a different style of storyline, my bad.
i am putting on this review after finishing book # 4.

Well read

Great characters from Dublin and surrounds. The landscape and city is described beautifully and the inhabitants of the story are all good, even the babies. For me the crowd watching the bomb disposal were the best. People l have met infact.
