Publisher's Summary

“I now pronounce you husband and wife.” There are few phrases as sobering, with the possible exceptions of “We have lift-off” and “This country is at war.” Yet, as they have done for centuries, millions of courageous men and women continue to walk down the aisle every year, without so much as a job description. Now, in her most autobiographical book, Erma Bombeck puts it all in loving and laughing perspective, as she looks back on her own 43-year-but-who’s-counting marriage.

Critic Reviews

“Bombeck…is in top form here, detonating snappy one-liners throughout this account of her 40-plus years of marriage.” ( Kirkus Reviews)

Nostalgic

I read this book when I was much younger and really enjoyed re-visiting it so many years later as a married woman. It's just as witty and surprisingly touching as it once was and I really enjoyed it.

Emma was the voice if a generation.

Erma always told it like it is, she was the voice of a generation of moms. Making the word "housewives" a good thing, with humor.

Marriage Made in Heaven

I enjoyed this book. Found myself relating to some of her stories. Learned a lot about the author’s life as I listened.

Erma Bombeck

This was my second time reading A Marriage Made in Heaven. The book is a story of life, told with Erma Bombeck's sense of humor. It was well written and narrated well.

A Book that made me Smile

When I first read it years ago & now when I just finished listening. Erma Bombeck never got kudos for how inciteful her humor is even today. She was a truly liberated woman before the movement even began.

Delightfully poignant

I’m 41, married 15 years with 6 kids.
The touching way the author addresses both the good and way of marriage was refreshing & honest. Definitely recommend.
