If someone had told me a year ago that I was about to fall in love, go on an epic road trip, ride a Triceratops, sing on a bar, and lose my virginity, I would have assumed they were on drugs. Well, that is, until I met Beckham. Beck was mostly to blame for my recklessness.

Story
Everyone in Cedar Creek, Texas, knows Jack McNight is an arrogant devil. Physically, I get it: he’s tan and fit, with coal-black hair that’s clearly been scorched by hellfire. Oh, and his personality? It burns just as hot. When I show up on the doorstep of Blue Stone Ranch, I’m run-down and rockin’ my last pair of underwear. I’m hoping for a savior, but instead, I find him. My opinion of Jack is marred by a dismal first impression, but his opinion of me is tainted even before I arrive. He’s heard I’m a spoiled princess there to take advantage of his goodwill.

I was issued a warning: stay away from Ben Rosenberg. As Clifton Cove's resident "king", he thinks he's entitled to anyone and anything. The trouble is, I've spent my whole life following the rules and playing it safe. I know what it feels like to be the good girl. I'm the police chief's daughter and a librarian - for adorable children, no less. An all-nighter with a fictional hunk is about as exciting as my life gets until one day, fate decides to take pity on me and shove me straight into the path of Mr. Off-Limits himself.

I’m desperate and destitute when Lockwood Construction rolls into my small town with an offer too good to pass up: high wages to any able-bodied man willing to join their crew. Say no more. I throw on baggy clothes, tuck my long hair under a baseball hat, and apply for a job. Unfortunately, my half-baked idea of disguising myself as a guy is flawed from the beginning. As Shakira says, these hips don’t lie. Still, I like to think I might have pulled the whole thing off save for one thing: I know my boss.

Marry a man I barely know to save my family from ruin. It might’ve been simple, if my betrothed were anybody else. On our wedding day, my husband-to-be arrived at the courthouse like a black cloud rolling over Manhattan. Walt didn’t crack smiles or pepper in pleasantries as we exchanged hollow vows in front of the judge. His disdain for me was so palpable I assumed we’d walk out of that ceremony and resume our regularly scheduled programming. But then fate was like, Hold my beer. I got this.

Ian is...just my best friend. We're extremely close, stuck so deep inside a Jim-and-Pam-style friendzone everyone at work assumes we're a couple - that is until one day, word spreads through the teacher's lounge that he's single. Fair game. Suddenly, it's open season on Ian. He should be reveling in all the newfound attention, but to our mutual surprise, the only attention he seems to want is mine. He's turning our formerly innocent nightly chats into X-rated phone calls. Our playful banter sports a new, dangerous edge.

Lucas Thatcher has always been my enemy. It's been a decade since I've seen him, but our years on opposite coasts were less of a lasting peace and more of a temporary cease-fire. Now that we're both back in our small town, I know Lucas expects the same old war, but I've changed since high school - and from the looks of it, so has he. I’m good at hiding my feelings. Having to pretend I’m not in love with my best friend? Pfft. That’s child’s play. Here’s how I do it: I avert my eyes when he walks out of his room, shirtless in all his toned glory. I squash the butterflies that fill my stomach every time he slowly unfurls a dimpled smile. Not to brag, but Aiden Smith isn’t hard to resist if you’ve been doing it for as long as I have. In fact, we might have continued as best friends forever if not for the fact that I needed him to play the part of my fake boyfriend.

Nicholas Hunt is the man I hate. For good reason. His opinion of me is tainted by prejudice even before my arrival at his grandmother’s estate, and my first impression of him is just as abysmal. His arrogance and icy demeanor make it clear that he’s the type of man who’s best handled at a distance. Fortunately, space shouldn’t be an issue inside this Gilded Age mansion and its lush gardens. If I stick with the servants and he keeps to his sailboat, we should hardly cross paths at all. Unfortunately, at Rosethorn, I find that all roads eventually lead to Nicholas Hunt.

With Olympic tryouts on the horizon, the last thing 19-year-old Kinsley Bryant needs to add to her plate is Liam Wilder. He's a professional soccer player, America's favorite bad-boy, and has all the qualities of a skilled panty-dropper. A face that makes girls weep - check. Abs that can shred Parmesan cheese (the expensive kind) - check. Enough confidence to shift the earth's gravitational pull - double check. Not to mention Liam is strictly off limits. Forbidden. Her coaches have made that perfectly clear.

I've spent eight years wishing I'd fall out of love with Derek Knightley. Blowing out birthday candles, chasing after shooting stars, making it rain spare change into mall fountains - every time it's the same wish: Forget about Derek. But the day he walks back into my life, I realize there are two things time has yet to soften: my feelings for him and his chiseled jawline. It's infuriating that my heart still races when he walks into a room. I refuse to fall prey to old unrequited love, so I decide the less I'm around him, the better. Avoidance is key.

A full-length standalone romantic comedy from USA TODAY best-selling author R.S. Grey. Beau Fortier starred in most of my cringe-worthy teenage fantasies. I met him when I was a junior in high school, a time that revolved exclusively around bad hair, failed forays into flirting, and scientific inquiries into which brand of toilet paper worked best for stuffing bras. That is, until Beau moved into the small guest house just beyond my bedroom window. A 24-year-old law student at Tulane, Beau was as mysterious to me as second base (both in baseball and in the bedroom).

It’s simple: Noah Peterson and I are enemies. Our fellow teachers know it, our friends know it—even the Starbucks drive-through lady knows it. The shrill whine of the school bell announces the start of each day’s no-holds-barred grudge match. Since neither of us is looking to get fired or thrown in prison, we war with our words and our wits. We prefer banter that bites. All day, I’m on edge, looking around every corner, expecting him to do his worst. Summer usually offers the sweetest relief—a two-month Noah detox—but not this year.

Publisher's Summary
A full-length standalone romantic comedy from USA Today best-selling author R.S. Grey.
When her mother's incessant matchmaking hits an all-time high, Georgie Archibald does what any sensible woman would do: she flees the country.
Seeking refuge in the picturesque seaside village of Vernazza, Italy, Georgie's only plan is to lie low, gorge herself on gelato, and let the wine and waves wash her troubles away...that is until she wakes up in a bed that belongs to the most romantic-looking man she's ever seen.
Gianluca. After going out of his way to rescue her, the former London financier turned mysterious recluse makes it clear that despite acting as her white knight, he has no plans to co-star in her fairytale.
But Georgie isn't asking for his heart - she's merely intrigued.
After all, Gianluca isn't just gorgeous - tall and tan from days spent in the sun - his touch sets her world on fire. With him, Georgie experiences the most intoxicating passion she's ever known, and it only takes a few steamy nights for her to realize that sometimes running away from trouble is the best way to find it.

Oh My Liam Neeson, I've Been Taken
Georgie is a most delightful person and her crazy antics kept me in stitches. Every time she found herself in an untenable situation, which was often cause she is a nutty mess, she used her spunk, wit and determination to make positive changes. It's great that she's so tenacious because that personality trait is definitely needed to deal with Gianluca, who after 5 years is still grieving his late wife. Georgie quickly makes friends while on her new adventure and with their help she eventually wears Gianluca down until he finds her charming and irresistible. Can Georgie turn a vacation fling into a lifelong love? If she can that would certainly appease her mother.
I love the narrators and their abilities to fluidly change from a British to an Italian accent. The flow was very natural and kept me listening intensely until the very end.
Absolutely worth a credit.

Excellent.
A PLACE IN THE SUN explores several aspects of love including the main romance that develops between the hero Gianluca, and heroine Georgie; the love within their friendship group involving Gianluca’s brother and his partner; and the main couple’s love for Vernazza - their village in the Cinque Terre in Italy.
Over a realistic time-frame, Gianluca and Georgie circle each other from a distance, become friends, and slowly tighten the coil until they are bonded by love. I became emotionally invested with this pairing. By the time their relationship became physical, it felt right, natural, sizzling. And I loved how despite obstacles, both main characters always treated each other with respect.
Another pleasure of this book, but the thing that made tears escape me, was the exquisite handling of grief and how it manifested for one of the protagonists. So real and moving. The language describing the heart’s journey through grief, was spot on.
I bought A PLACE IN THE SUN as a Whispersync package because the cost of the Audible together with the Kindle (Amazon) was less than an Audible credit. Consequently, I had the pleasure of listening to two new-to-me narrators, Victoria Aston and Roger Frisk. I felt and loved the emotion they poured into their voice characterisations. Roger Frisk could have given Gianluca more of an Italian spin on the English accent rather than a full English accent, but that is a minor suggestion in what was overwhelmingly a beautiful performance. Roger Frisk brought me to tears.
I’ve enjoyed RS Grey’s writing in the past, but this story was exceptional. I highly recommend this novel on Kindle, and especially on Audible for the excellent narration.

Another Great Read
I enjoyed this one a lot. The narrators took a little getting used to, but I'd recommend the audiobook. I'm giving it 4.5 out of 5 stars.
I liked Georgie's character a lot. I felt like we could have maybe been friends if she was real. And Gianluca was a hunk, and seemed like an amazing guy. He's going on my book boyfriend list.
This book didn't surprise me much, especially something that I think was supposed to be a plot twist. Never the less, I enjoyed it a ton. The mental picture the author painted of Italy was breathtaking. I'm jealous because I want to travel so bad!
Lots of the other characters were great too. This book wasn't super happy go lucky; some of the characters had gone through/were still going through some hard times. I won't say more on that, but just be prepared for some feels. I can't wait to read another one of her books!

Funny and Endearing Romance!
Georgie Archibald is 26 years old with a mother who wants to see her married off, something she made known to Georgie when at the age of 20 her mother tells her she is starting to get old. Fed up with being set up by her mother on an endless string of ill-fated blind dates Georgie decides she is going to take matters into her own hands and basically runs away - she closes her eyes spins a globe and points to a place, which on the second attempt happens to be Italy. She just knows she is going to find love and a husband, it’s fate!
I really enjoyed this book! We first met Georgie in The Summer Games:Settling the Score as Freddie’s scene stealing sister, and I remember listening and thinking ‘I hope she gets her own book.’ You don’t have to read that one though to appreciate this one, it completely stands on its own. Gianluca a former financier from London moved back to Italy 5 years ago after a sad turn of events brings him there, and now while he may have women clamoring for his attention he wants nothing to do with any of them or a relationship - he prefers solitude. Vivacious Georgie does a great job of bringing broody Gianluca out of his shell. (I love how she rewards herself with chocolate every time she gets him to talk!) This book has a lot of humor, a lot of great lines and is just a lot of fun in general. I loved the slow burn, we really get to know the characters and see them grow.
Victoria Aston and Roger Frisk did a great job with the narration! I’ve never listened to anything by them but I certainly will in the future. Victoria perfectly captured Georgie’s adventurous spirit and wit. She plays the perfect optimist while still bringing gravity into the performance and not making her seem flighty. Roger did a great job with all of the accents and various characters!
R.S. Grey does a wonderful job with bringing out the beauty of Italy. She sets the scene well enough that you can picture yourself there - it’s vibrant and engaging. This is one that I will definitely be listening to again!

Lovely descriptions of Italy. Slow burn.
First kiss didn't happen until halfway through, then things got hot quickly. The descriptions of the Italian village were detailed plentiful. I felt like I was there, or watching a film. Both narrators were great, though I wondered why the male MC was narrated by a British narrator instead of an Italian one (or narrated with an Italian accent).
