Publisher's Summary

Housed in a rustic red barn, the Simple Gifts crafts shop celebrates the talents of the Amish of Willow Ridge and the faith that inspires them. For the acceptance of simplicity opens the path to love.

As far as Edith Riehl is concerned, the baby twins thrust suddenly into her arms are a heaven-sent gift. Unable to conceive, she longs to be a mother with a home of her own.

She's going to abide by her promise to handsome Asa Detweiler to take care of them while he looks for their real father. And even if her domineering dat Cornelius refuses to countenance Asa's suit, she can only pray that the bachelor's honesty and persistence will uncover the truth.

Asa can't understand why anyone would think that he would be so dishonorable as to father babies and then abandon them. He's determined to clear his name, but Edith's caring ways also inspire him to help heal her wounded spirit and earn her trust. In the face of heartbreaking deception, he and Edith must find the strength to understand, forgive, and claim their own hearts' joy.

Charlotte's got another good one!

I was so excited reading this and yet there still a cliffhanger so I can't wait until the next installment in the series. Thank you Charlotte for leaving me hanging...

Loved it!

Keep writing Charlotte Hubbard! I can’t get enough of your books. Love how the theme of forgiveness is woven through all of them. So excited to listen to the next in the series.

Quit playing 😡

At the most suspenseful part the book quit playing. I’ve contacted Support and tried all things but it will not finish chapter18 or any of the chapters following.

…and I even like Amish fiction

It’s not because I dislike this genre…but this was a frustrating listen. I’m not sure why the author hammered the “goat milk is good for babies” theme so mightily; if I had a dollar for every time it was mentioned I could pay for 2 years of audible. Repetitive, slow, and predictable by chapter 3. Not sure why half the characters sound Irish. Lots of unanswered questions (Cornelius’ clocks? His vault? What?). Two stars only because we passed time in the car counting the number of times “indigo eyes”, creamed celery, and “grill-n-skillet” were mentioned. Sehr schlect.

Heinous crimes committed-and are treated like somebody accidentally jaywalked or something

I continue to listen to the stories but I always shake my head at how simplistic they are. In this story someone does something to a relative that is ridiculously illegal-and then we find out he did even more things i
Involving bodily injury. And the victims are told they must forgive and the other person gets barely more than a stern Amish talking to Not how things happen in the real world but still with everything going on in the real world this is nice escape ism.

A Most Original Tale! Couldn’t Put It Down!

Just when I thought I knew what was going to happen, the unexpected happened! The author leads you to believe this is an Amish love story..., and it is...but with intrigue, deception, mystery, and hints that lead the reader to nowhere. It’s a page-turner of a most pleasant kind. If you like books in an Amish setting that keep you guessing, you will love A Simple Vow: Simple Gifts.
