Publisher's Summary

In this latest installment in the beloved No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series, Grace Makutsi encounters a pair of quandaries that will require all of her and Mma Ramotswe's cleverness and generosity to resolve

Grace Makutsi's husband, Phuti, is in a bind. An international firm is attempting to undercut his prices in the office furniture market. Phuti has always been concerned with quality and comfort, but this new firm seems interested only in profits. To make matters worse, they have a slick new advertising campaign that seems hard to beat. Nonetheless, with Mma Ramotswe's help, Phtui comes up with a campaign that may just do the trick.

Meanwhile, Mma Makutsi is approached by an old friend who has a troubled son. Grace and Phuti agree to lend a hand, but the boy proves difficult to reach, and the situation is more than they can handle on their own. It will require not only all of their patience and dedication but also the help of Mma Ramotswe and the formidable Mma Potokwani in order to help the child.

Faced with more than her fair share of domestic problems, Mma Makutsi deals with it all with her usual grace. That, along with the kindness, generosity, and good sense that the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency is known for, assures us that in the end, all these matters will be set right.

Home Again

Alexander McCall Smith has done it again.
I love this series but I did not enjoy the last two or three because of the narrator. It feels good to have Lisette Lecat back. For the lovers of this series they all understand. This story has the characters of NOLDA experiences as well as a detective story. Interesting to hear the growth of Mma Makutsi. The humor and the wit along with the contemporary growth is excellent.
this is the best narrator for this story I don't care what anyone says

Hurray!! Narrator Lisette Lecat is back!!

I’ve listened to every Alexander McCall Smith audiobook and love them all. While I still enjoyed the last few audiobooks in the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series, I admit to being VERY glad to hear our familiar Lisette Lecat narrating once more.

Lisette Lecat captures the essence of Botswana and the wonderful characters with her gentle voice and pace of reading. She reads with such poignancy that I am always very moved by the wonderful words the author creates. It is another winner from Alexander McCall Smith and I cannot wait for the next installment.

white actors for ethnic characters

Can we stop this please?!!!! There is an African (black) narrator that exists. blacks are literate and can act in their own respective roles.

i've heard a black narrator read this series and prefer her. I'm exhausted of whites playing ethnic parts, they do EVERYTHING!!! Give the right people a chance.
