Publisher's Summary

When love needs a helping hand - or paw.

Fitzwilliam Darcy has his hands full. His cousin had his heart broken, his sister’s confidence was recently shattered, one of his closest friends has taken on more responsibility than he can possibly handle, and an overbearing social climber has decided to prove to Darcy that she is his perfect match.

When all of them travel together to Netherfield Park, everything goes wrong. Darcy finds himself dancing when he would rather not, cavorting with mules, and laughing with an impertinent young miss who shows him the lighter side of life.

Elizabeth Bennet’s sympathies often extend to the disadvantaged and mistreated. So, when she meets Fitzwilliam Darcy under less than flattering circumstances, her heart goes out to the unfortunate gentleman. Extending him her friendship and her humor, she tries to be content with her lot while helping her dearest sister and friend find love with their new neighbors at Netherfield Park. But the more she comes to know Mr. Darcy, the greater his danger to her heart.

With the help of a troublesome Maltese puppy and the interference of a tenacious rival whose tactics backfire at every turn, Mr. Darcy discovers that to win Miss Elizabeth’s heart, he must become the gentleman she believes him to be.

A Splendidly (Un)suitable Match is a light-hearted, low-angst, Regency Rom-Com inspired by Jane Austen's timeless classic, Pride and Prejudice. It is appropriate for all audiences.

One of Ms. Joy’s best

This story gives ODC a different start, with fewer difficulties to overcome. There are still misunderstandings and villains to deal with that are familiar.

This story offers more humor than wit, but it is enjoyable.

Caroline is Caroline at her most scheming and frustrated. ODC actually work together a couple of times to unwittingly foil her plans, which brings them closer.

Of course, Stevie Zimmerman is wonderful to listen to with her ability to give a unique voice to each character.

Good Story

This is a hard review to write. I wasn't impressed the 1st time I listen to the story. Then months later I decided to listen to it again...in reality I couldn't remember what the story was about.
After finishing this book a 3nd time, I still haven't a word to put in this review.
Of course. Caroline is nasty, Wickham bad as always, Darcy above his company. Richard level headed and Bingley immature, Mrs. Hurst didn't like as usual and Mr. Hurst nothing to speak of differently.
I do like that Richard was able to manipulate D to put forth a better 1st impression and this changed everything from the original story. That being said is that D and E both couldn't see nor acknowledge to themselves of the feelings they had for each other and when they did acknowledge it to themselves they both decided at the same moment to tell the other that they loved them.
How could that be. If you didn't see any attachment od feelings in the other. Oh well, if you can get over that the story is amusing.

Sweet and Simple

A sweet and simple listen with minimal angsty plotline. Stevie Zimmerman is wonderful as always.
