One of the greatest

Books I've ever experienced in my life. I couldn't recommend it more, for anyone at any stage.

Good inspiration

More organized and less scattered than Food for the Heart, perhaps also a bit lighter too. I enjoy both books and I feel like there is value in both. This one is a good inspiration for someone wanting to get a bit more into their meditation, past simply stating, and towards maintaining their practice and past the formal sit.

A Memorable Teaching

Ajahn Chah doesn't disappoint. He guides the listener through Buddhism's most important concepts, but cautions the listener that experience, watching the mind, and knowing oneself are more important than reading books. Everything needed to reach Nibbana are within oneself. There's no need to go anywhere else. Listen to this audiobook. You will be greatly rewarded.

Not sure if I wanted this

Once again one is a prey to one's expectations. This is a fairly commercial use of a famous man's life and works a narrative of his life and work more than a report of his teachings. I listened to the end but was left with the feeling that the publisher got more out of it than I did...

Beautiful instruction.

Anything by Ajahn Chah is beautiful, gentle and compassionate. Unlike some schools of Buddhism, which can be rather daunting, this is soft and encouraging.

Great inspiring and eye-opening book.

This book is a wonderful compilation of teachings on dhamma and vipassana (insight meditation) of a great vipassana master of Thailand, Ajahn Chah. Jack Kornfield, one of his very first western disciples, admirably maintains Ajahn Chah's teaching style by preserving his teaching tone in plain language with intelligible similes and metaphors. Ajahn Chah's thought-provoking teachings, enlightening quotes, eye-opening stories, intelligible similes and metaphors, and Jack's direct experiences are flawlessly composed in this book.

It is one of my most enjoyable dhamma books. I have read and listened to many of Ajahn Chah teachings for years but I found this book is very well organised and easy to understand with lots of his remarkable teachings. So many teachings in this book also reflect the Buddhist perspective on some of problems in lay life and how to handle them in Buddhist way.

Overall, this delightful little book greatly reflects Ajahn Chah's teachings and interesting forest monk practices which will help the listeners to truly understand the insight meditation. This book suites readers with any level of Buddhism and meditation experience. It is also a good reading for anyone who begin to learn about Theravada Buddhist Forest Tradition and Vipassana Meditation.
