Publisher's Summary
He wanted nothing at all...until he found she had everything to give.... Sunder lead singer and guitarist Sebastian Stone has everything - fans, fame, and fortune. He also has a heart full of bitterness and a reputation for a short-fused temper. But an outward reputation rarely reveals the true man inside.
Facing assault charges after trying to protect his younger brother, Sebastian is sent to Savannah, Georgia, to lie low until the dust settles in LA. Shea Bentley is beautiful, kind, and hiding from the very lifestyle Sebastian has always embraced. When the mysterious, tattooed stranger begins hanging out at the bar where she works, Shea is quick to recognize he is nothing but trouble, but she's helpless to the way her body lights up every time his intense gray eyes tangle with hers. They both soon find themselves drowning in a sea of desire and passion that won't let them up for air.
Sebastian knows firsthand secrets never die, and he's not the only one who's hiding them. Loving someone always comes with a price. But will it be Shea's past that costs them everything?

cliffhanger cliffhanger cliffhanger
A lot of "in the head" drama so that got a little old but what really got me struggling to finish was the way so many words were repeated THREE THREE THREE times. Enough, already! The story is dramatic enough!

It's a 9.5 hour-380 page CLIFFHANGER!
I am really sick of authors writing such long books and them being a cliffhanger! it's rude, inconsiderate and somewhat greedy IMO.
Other than that being extremely pizzed off about the cliffhanger.
The story was okay. The characters did over think things, and there was some filler nonsense.
The chemistry was good between the hero, Sebastian and our heroine, "Shea", and there is quite a bit of sex, not BDSM but somewhat erotic.
The story line and plot are good, however it seemed to drag on a bit (then the dreaded cliffhanger!). This is written in the first person from dual POV, but luckily not repetitive. (I am not usually a fan of books in the first person and this one is not that bad)
As for the narration, IT SAVED THE BOOK SO FAR (since it's not over) Sebastian York has the sexiest voice I have ever listened to. This is my first Andi Arndt and she did a great job. I feel bad for the people that only read this and did not get to enjoy the narration. They have to be even more frustrated with the cliffhanger than me.
This is the last page. "Sebastian and Shea's story continues in Drowning to Breath, Summer 2015".
So the author does leave a note that says "Leaving this book off here was a difficult decision for me...." blah blah blah..
My note to the author "Well, it was a bad decision". Just sayin....
Since the author liked to repeat words in the story like.
More.

Sweet.

Reparative! Cliffhanger! Argh!
Performance was good (love how Andi reads stories). However, the book was hard to get into especially with the constant repeat of the same words over and OVER. It just lacked a background to the characters that left you lost in the beginning. I'm bummed! I
wouldn't have bought this book knowing it had another to follow.

It drags on on on!
I read the mixed reviews and figured that with Sebastian York narrating I would probably like it. Sadly even he could not rescue this book. It had potential. The plot is good. We get to know the male lead very well but there is almost no character development of the female lead. I could have been hooked for the second in the series but in the last third of the book the author starts repeating her words when she wants to make a point. It's just annoying, annoying, annoying! That said, this ones going back.

Painful to get through
I have never written a review. I do read them and I took a chance anyway. The narrators are two of my favorite and that is the nicest thing I can say about this book. No story, over use of lower lip and every form of incredulous as well as predictable and absurd.

Don't waste your time
This book started off well enough.... however it was so wildly overwrought with melodrama that it quickly became difficult to finish. The ending (cliffhanger to the next book) was so wildly absurd I became angry that I wasted my time and a credit on this telenovella BS. Stay away

Cliffhanger
I wish I had known this author likes to write cliffhangers. I would not have purchased this book. I am not a fan of this type of writing. I prefer a series where each book is complete regarding the relationship of the main characters. However, if you like reading this type of book then you might enjoy this one. It is a little slow going but picks up the pace around half way through the book.

Unfinished book
This is a story of a young mother who works as a waitress in a bar and who reluctantly begins a relationship with a rock star. The relationship between mother and daughter is wonderful.
However, the ending is so abrupt that you are left wondering if Audible only downloaded part of the story. If you cut out 2 hours of angst and replaced it with an ending, it would be a 4 starred book, at a minimum.

Any additional comments?
The story was okay. The narration was okay. But it ended suddenly in a cliffhanger. NO RESOLUTION AT ALL. I never buy cliffhangers if I can help it. I searched but could find no information about when book 2 will be out. I will not be buying it because by the time it comes out I will not care about this story at all.

IT GRIPPED ME FROM THE GET GO.
If you could sum up A Stone in the Sea in three words, what would they be?
PERFECT, PERFECT, PERFECT
What did you like best about this story?
I can't pinpoint just one thing, I liked everything, every single chapter was as beautiful as was the next, there were so many emotions in this story, but boy things are far from over yet!
What about Andi Arndt and Sebastian York ’s performance did you like?
I love both of them, they are professional to a "T" and they always produce a flawless narration. A stone in the Sea was no exception and each poured their hearts and souls into the job at hand. Regardless of having listening to them in so many other stories, every time they take on the role of the ML or FL and played it as if it was the first time you are listening to them. And come on who doesn't love these two! I melt with Sebastian's voice.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It made me sigh and cry and then scream at the end when I was left in shock and bewilderment at to where the story was taken me. I was desperate to know what was going to happen next so I have downloaded the next instalment.
Any additional comments?
Amy Amy Amy, you know exactly which strings to pull and how to drive the reader into the world of your characters. Each book is so well delivered so perfectly structured, what I love is that is not rushed, all the things are happening and developing at a perfect pace and corners aren't cut, its just magically crafted producing a solid story with the right amount of passion, obsession, angst and romance.

Didn’t like two things. The repeating a word three times for dramatic effects all the time - irritating. Then the sex scenes dragged on with over describing each move that I was fast forward through then as got
bored.

Capturing
This book is an amazing story like. It’s capturing and you just want to continue listening. As soon as this book was finished and wanted to start the second book right away. I just need to know what happens!
Twists that you just don’t expect.

descriptive descriptive descriptive
congrats A L Jackson you have created a brilliant cliffhanger which I didn't see coming and wasn't going to follow with the next book, but now I am hooked without a choice. I hope I'm right and the story continues.
the 3 word repetition I can see it's meaning, the Intent to push the listener deeper to have them feel the sensual emotions between hero and heroine.
the book has a hard gritty violent story background but the words, the thread the author keeps spinning asks the listener to quieten and feel.
admittedly I felt frustrated in more places than one for the description seemed to repeat and go on forever. I was about to stop when the story picked up and away I went again.
if you like descriptive, slow paced listening with smiles and tears coexisting then this is the book for you...but
SPOILET ALERT....
In this book no FINAL HEA and one huge gut wrenching cliffhanger

No X Factor Here
Is there anything you would change about this book?
As with other listeners, my experience of the author's penchant for repeating phrases and words three times over really grated after a while; not only was this unnecessary, it lent an amateurish tone to the writing. There was a good story to be had here but it didn't get told. I felt the author tried too hard to turn this into a literary piece with a lot of unnecessary filler and self talk which overshadowed the storyline.
What didn’t you like about Andi Arndt and Sebastian York ’s performance?
I didn't enjoy Sebastian York's performance at all. I agree with other readers that he has a great voice however I think it's better suited to documentary rather than erotic fiction. Andi Arndt's performance was okay but I would've preferred a voice that sounded like less like a little girl and more like a young woman.
Any additional comments?
This story has potential but, as is, missed the mark. It reads like it got the editor's sign-off a few drafts too early.
