Good, Broad overview

This was a good broad overview of early church history. A lot happened in the first 500 years that wasn't covered, but the major highlights were explained sufficiently. The good and bad was also presented.

Awesome perspective and insight into ancient church

I love the teaching style and crisp delivery. I appreciated the insight into how certain traditions were born and how the thinking in the early church evolved. We many times take for granted the questions and issues settled in their era.

Excellent overview

Very fast overview of ancient Church history (A.D. 100-500) by the always-interesting and cogent Dr. W. Robert Godfrey. A historian by training and an eminent theologian, he weaves a clear map of the development of early doctrines of the Church. He does not dumb down his presentation but makes it very accessible, even for those who have not delved deeply into this topic.

A Good Compact History

If you're interested in church history but don't want to be bogged down with too much detail, this is a good introductory study. It lays a good foundation for additional study by giving a strong timeline of events and people that shaped the history of the ancient church.

Interesting and Infotmative

I’ve listen to all 72 hours
I wouldn’t say I found them delightful but Dr Godfrey kept my attention while imparting a gray deal of information.
There are other volumes that cover some era in more detail but I haven’t found a summary as comprehensive as this.

I enjoyed each session and found myself wanting to delve more into certain parts. In areas where I have done quite a bit of study, I found his synopsis well done.
What a daunting task to cover all this history. His dry humor really helps the listener.

a little to too much opinion, along with the facts

not sure how God's church made it this far without Robert.Like knowing alot about God and his church but not knowing God or his church.
