Publisher's Summary

The thrilling third book in Chris Colfer's number one New York Times best-selling A Tale of Magic... series.

Brystal Evergreen is running out of time. It’s been almost a year since she made a deal with Death to find and destroy the Immortal in exchange for her life. But she still hasn’t found a single clue about who or where the Immortal is. To make matters worse, something dark and malignant has risen from deep within the earth, threatening life as we know it. To stop this new evil, the fairies and witches must work with all the kingdoms and territories, including the Righteous Brotherhood and their Army of the Dead. But is the threat more familiar than they expected? And why are a secretive group of Sorcerers convinced Xanthous Hayfield is connected to it?

They keep getting better!

I don't know how Chris Colfer does it but I swear each book in this series just gets better and better. This is the third book in the Land of Stories prequel series, the Tale of Magic series. I love learning more about Brystal and Lucy's lives. I listened to the audio book, and I love all the voices he uses and all the attention to detail he has with the writing and the performance. I can't wait for the next one!

Beautiful book

The author of this book series has always inspired me, and this book definitely proves why. The detail in which every scene was written is extraordinary, and the plot itself is quite interesting. Awesome job!

Amazing

I love this book series! I also love that even if you haven't read the Land of Stories, it still ties both series together no matter which you read first! love it!

Alternate Agenda Disappointment.

I was disappointed with the push of sexual attributes. I really enjoyed reading the land of stories series and decided to give this series a start. It felt a push to include the sexual nature between Zanthis and the Elf prince. Story would have been great discussing friendships and being best friends. I will not be recommending this series to my students.

THE BEST PROLOGUE EVAR

why do I say this? I've got a whole a$$ list...
1. Everything has its purpose and ties perfectly into "The Land of Stories" timeline (except Lucy's and Bristol's ages)
2. Colfer made the story incredibly in depth and his portrayal of the Righteous Emperor was MASTERFUL
3. Really made me think and make some amazing connections back over to "The Land of Stories"
4. and finally, without spoilers, The ending was so heartfelt and intricate, yet so natural and sweet, it made the perfect end to a 3-parter, yet left enough wiggle room to have more sequels, just like the final book of the main series.

Overall 10/3, I'm listening with baited breath for the next Christopher Colfer title.
