Publisher's Summary

There was a time when the world was sweeter...when the women in Beaufort, North Carolina, wore dresses, and the men donned hats.... Every April, when the wind smells of both the sea and lilacs, Landon Carter remembers 1958, his last year at Beaufort High. Landon had dated a girl or two, and even once sworn that he'd been in love. Certainly the last person he thought he'd fall for was Jamie, the shy, almost ethereal daughter of the town's Baptist minister...Jamie, who was destined to show him the depths of the human heart - and the joy and pain of living. The inspiration for this novel came from Nicholas Sparks's sister: her life and her courage. From the internationally best-selling author Nicholas Sparks, comes his most moving story yet....

Get out the Kleenex

I never let myself watch the film since I was aware of the plot. I thought I could deal with the book...nope I was wrong. This story is just heartbreaking. I also wasn't very intrigued by the narrator.

Love the story, barely made it through the book because of the narrator.

Spoiler alert….Read from the perspective of a 57 year old man sharing a memory, the narrator made him sound like a 90 year old man! I’m 57, I sure hope I don’t sound like a 90 year old woman! That being said, I would still recommend this and all other Nicholas Spark’s books if you enjoy a good love story.

Great, short read

Love the story, never gets old and warms the heart. Its one you can read between books to wipe your last book's thoughts to aside. ( what I do anyways)
Narrator brings out the story very well.

Great Read

A Walk to Remember was a great read by Nicholas Sparks. Landon Carter's life changed drastically when he was seventeen years old. Every April, when the sea mingles with the scent of lilacs, he remembers his last year in high school. He never thought that he would fall for Jamie Sullivan, the daughter of the town's Baptist minister. She was a quiet girl who was content living in a world apart from others her age. She took care of her widowed father, rescued hurt animals and helped at the local orphanage. A twist of fate brought Jamie and Landon together for the homecoming dance. I absolutely loved reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.

Wonderful.

I laughed and I cried throughout this book.
Narration was perfect. The story was fiction but it could have been true. Loved it.
