We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

The story of Tang and her gallant crew ranks with the most amazing of naval history. Between August 1943 when she was commissioned and her loss in fall 1944, Tang completed four missions and was on her fifth in the Formosa Strait, single-handedly demolishing a convey. During this time, Tang had one captain: Commander Richard Hetherington O'Kane. Together, Tang, her crew of 86 men, and her captain sank more tonnage and more enemy ships than any other submarine on active patrol.

Two months after D-Day, the Allies found themselves in a stalemate in Normandy, having suffered enormous casualties attempting to push through hedgerow country. Troops were spent, and American tankers, lacking the tactics and leadership to deal with the terrain, were losing their spirit. General George Patton and the other top US commanders needed an officer who knew how to break the impasse and roll over the Germans - they needed one man with the grit and the vision to take the war all the way to the Rhine. Patton and his peers selected Maurice Rose.

Publisher's Summary
ARMOR: The Complete Series chronicles the journey of a tank crew through the Second World War, from North Africa to Berlin. Action-packed, authentic, and filled with flawed but tough men of the Greatest Generation, ARMOR drops you straight into the horror, brotherhood, and triumph of armored warfare.
You'll fight alongside the crew as they go head-to-head with Tigers at Kasserine Pass, race to Palermo in Sicily, land during the horrific first assault wave at Omaha Beach, crash against the Norman hedgerows, make a stand against Hitler's last blitzkrieg in the Battle of the Bulge, and batter their way into the heart of Nazi Germany. All the while, you'll live with the crew in the cramped, noisy, and vulnerable fighting machine that was the American Sherman tank.
ARMOR: The Complete Series puts together for the first time all five episodes in Craig DiLouie's historical military fiction action & adventure series: The Battle of North Africa, The Fight for Sicily, Fortress Europe, The Bulge, and Reich's Fall.

This is a fun listen. I highly recommend it for tank nuts.
If you love armor and ww2 you will enjoy this series. First off, it’s a great value. You get a lot of listening for one credit. Second the narrator does an amazing job. I hope I come across him more. Some readers whom do characters kind of struggle to make them separate without cheesing it up a bit. None of that here. Even the accents are well done.
Now the story. It’s pretty good. I debated between four or five stars here. For the vast majority it is excellent. Fits the historical backdrop. Always referencing actual drives and engagements. It’s really well done in that sense. The dialogue between the crew is for the most part, and I’m kind of inclined to nit pick here, is pretty strong. However, I doubt anyone will notice the things I did and so I give it a well earned 4.5.
Another really cool thing about this set of stories is that there is sound effects. Now I normally hate them. As well as music, in audiobooks. However, it’s really low key and used sparingly. So that when you hear a Stuka dive it adds to the character’s fear instead of blending into the background noise as well... background noise. It contributes well to the world the author has created.
Check this out if you want some tank action. It’s easily top 3 in tank fiction on audible. Far, far, to many in this genre are full of cliches and corney dialogue. This one was a pleasure.
I requested a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Disappointing
I really wanted to like Armor. The story premise was most promising: An American tank crew thrown together with very dissimilar backgrounds and forced to fight as team in the newly issued Sherman starting in North Africa and moving across Europe, They faced well trained and well equipped Germans.
Technically, most details were accurate (except for continually referring to tracks as treads). But though fairly well developed, the characters were obnoxious. I never felt any attachment to a single one. It felt like endless 1940's cliche's and tired old sayings. If one of the characters got hit or perished, I simply didn't care, I ended up hoping that someone more interesting would now be a part of the drawn out story.
The narrator did a good job and there were some background sound effects at times. Unfortunately that did not improve the rather long winded story that, in my view, held no surprises or drew me in. I got to the point where listening to this story was a chore. And that for me is the mark of a book to take a hard pass on.

Great story on the experiences of a tank crew.
This story captures so much of the real experiences of a tank crew. The hardships and day to day requirements to keep a complex combat vehicle operational are on point. The friendships and banter amongst the crew are true to life. Take it from a combat tanker, this is an enjoyable series.

Great Story but Too Short
22 hours long and I wish there was another 22 to listen to. The author mixes character development, technical detail, action and foxhole philosophy in an enthralling story. Its fun, insightful and engaging. I only gave the performance 4 stars because the sound effects occasionally sound a touch cheezy. This is the first audiobook I look forward to listening to again.

Gritty WWII Combat Stories
I enjoyed this series of books. After finishing the Crash Dive series from this author, I was looking forward to this series and Mr. Dilouie did not disappoint. Lots of action. The characters are well-developed. And as the series went on I grew more attached to them. I felt the author did a good job blending action with historical description, and struck a decent balance developing fully rounded characters. The books follow a crew through Africa and the European campaign of WWII, ending with the fall of Nazi Germany.

A change of genre for me here but what a treat
I bought this series after listening to the Crash Dive box set read by my hero R C Bray. Garrett did a fine job of the narration with his many and varied personalities, all of which I loved.I am familiar with these historical events through various documentaries but he made me feel as though I was in the tank with the rest of them. The battle scenes and chapters in general were short and compelling and couldn't be paused. I know it sounds weird but I could even smell the aromas he was describing. I thought it sad that these guys were so close but actively tried to distance themselves from each other in anticipation of loss in battle. The sound effects from the guns were excellent too and we should have more of this in audiobooks. I'll definitely listen to more from Craig Dilouie

A very good book
Good novel, enjoyed the whole series. The only negative I have is I feel the author let's the Italians off the hook in their part of the war and for the fact that it was Benito Mussolini who started the first one nation facist party and was elected by the people. maybe the authors Italian background shaped away from the Italian facsist party. Other than that, was a very good series

A great listen
This is a great series and made even better with what happened to everyone after the war. If you're a history buff, look past the few little things not quite right and don't stop until the end.
The talent of the author and narrator combine into something well worth listening to. Thank you Gents.

Exceptional. Highly recommended.
Perfection. After the subs (and a referential cameo in this series by a familiar friend, woo!), this was brilliant as a follow up for more expanded perspective of ww2 from American side.
Minor pronunciation errors by the narrator - but only 3 I noticed, and it wasn't immersion breaking.
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Thank you.

Well done Craig and crew.
Well written and well narrated by an expert in his field. Really led the listener into the feel of the necessary madness that moulded the heroes of the tank warfare battles that helped shorten the war.
