Publisher's Summary

Matt is missing. Bonnie's six-year-old brother left his classroom to use the bathroom - and disappeared. A police dog traces his scent to the curb, where he apparently got into a vehicle. But why would Matt go anywhere with a stranger? Overwhelmed with fear, Bonnie discovers that her dog is gone, too. Was Pookie used as a lure for Matt?

Bonnie makes one big mistake in her attempt to find her brother. In a chilling climax on a Washington State ferry, Bonnie and Matt must outsmart their abductor or pay with their lives.

Wonderful!!!!

I really enjoyed this story. I am a mother of two kids (8yr old girl and 7yr old boy) and we listened to this book everyday when I would drop them off and pick them up from school. It was a great book to teach them about talking to strangers. I would often pause the story and ask them questions on what was going on, what should have happened, what did the kid do wrong. There were a few times where the story got dark and I even got scared, but overall we all enjoyed it.

Children’s book

I had to stop reading after an hour. Book is written at a fourth grade level. Audible should mention this information.

Teens

It was ok for a young people book. Maybe something I would have enjoyed. But I listened to the whole story and it was ok.

Kehret always comes through

Another great book from Kehret. The young girl is so clever and resourceful, and the boy is no slouch. Yes, what they seemed to be able to deduce was not reasonable for their ages, this is the kind of book kids need to build their confidence in themselves and their ability to be critical thinkers. I wholeheartedly recommend this. (FYI I’m 52)

The performer was a fit for this story though she would not be a fit for a story told solely from an adult’s point of view.

Realistic and spellbinding

Enjoyed from start to finish. Makes one want to be more perceptive of people around them and learn to be helpful.

We need one another.

Not a children's book!

Although some reviews have said that they thought this a children's book, I totally disagree. What these children have been through would probably give them nightmares for years and is a mother's worse fear.
Now that said, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The kids are great (no spoilers.) There are bad people out there, this book shows just one and a lot of really good folks too.

Good story

Nothing super unique or exciting. The story is predictable at times. The narrator does a great job giving it life.

Good intense book for kids.

The book keeps you at the edge of your seat. Great lessons to go over with your kids about strangers and even those you know.
