Best legal thriller in a long time & it’s a debut!
This is a really really good book. I know I certainly enjoyed it and think anyone who appreciates a good court room drama will have a great time listening to this one.
The protagonist (Matt Taylor) is hired by a family whose son was in a car accident. He was misdiagnosed at a hospital and further injured after he was admitted. Represented by a busy ambulance chasing attorney, the attorney handed the case to a first year lawyer. Medical issues were missed and the statute of limitations expired. Taylor then sues the hot shot ambulance chaser for legal negligence on behalf of a young man who is now a quadriplegic. After two attempts on his life, Matt Taylor knows he’s got a good case if he can live through it.
Both the plot and characters are well developed and believable. Being the parent of of two adult physically disabled daughters I can say his description of care requirements for people with physical limitations is quite accurate. This is a fast paced legal thriller that leaves you thinking about it long after you’ve finished the book.
Roger Wayne does an outstanding job narrating.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Really!! All Those 5 Star Reviews
It was like a harlequin B grade movie, I found the courtroom parts slow and plodding. Loves scenes, boating trips and skiing where was the legal thriller. Nothing of note in them. Also, the ending could have flowed better. Overall, just an okay book. Eight hours in and I could not go on I really tried.
On a positive not the narrator was good and the reason I tried so hard to finish.

Outstanding legal thriller!
I follow Audible Listener Shelley (Raleigh, NC) (1) because our fiction preferences are similar and (2) because she finds and reviews wonderful novels that I would not likely find. If you are interested in the mystery/thriller genre you should consider following Shelley and giving her the helpful votes she richly deserves. ACTS OF OMISSION by James S Bostwick is the most recent find by Shelley.
This novel is easily the best legal thriller I have read in years. I awarded John Grisham's recent release The Guardians 5 stars. ACTS OF OMISSION is a much better legal thriller than The Guardians, but 5 stars are the maximum I can award it. Read Shelley's excellent review for more information. By the way, the narration is also outstanding.
This is the first book by James S Bostwick. Who is he? Upon investigating I find that he is a septuagenarian California lawyer so we likely should not expect many more releases from him. He is also one of the top civil lawyers in the US and he heads his own (large) law firm.
Very highly recommended!

Best Mystery/Thriller in 2019!
I read (or actually listen to!☺️) books every single day, every spare minute. This book is definitely a winner. The narrator is amazing as well. This book is the perfect combination of legal and medical thriller, with a full cast of complex and believable characters. Don’t miss out on this one! And Mr. Bostwick, please hurry up with the next one!

Wonderful from start to end!
Hopefully, this author has something new sooner rather than later. This legal mystery reminds me of the first time I read John Grisham's Firm. The story is absolutely compelling. The character development is full. The scenes are so realistic that you feel like you have a front-row seat to the events. Finally, as the icing on the cake, the reader is top-notch.
I listen to 3-4 books a week. This is one of the best I've read all year!
Note: I'm hoping for a sequel. The main character could have the staying power of a Bosch or Reacher.

This Book Has it All!
Want a suspenseful, well-written legal thriller with a believable plot and engaging characters? This one has all of that and more, and a perfect narrator! As a lawyer, I'm often put off by legal thrillers in which the lawyers act like Navy Seals with JDs, and by courtroom scenes that mess up the law. This one gets the law right, and adds just enough action outside the courtroom to make it more fun than a realistic book about actually practicing law would be! Any reader of fiction will be more than willing to suspend disbelief just a bit. My favorite books also convey a strong feeling of setting/place, and this one does that too, with a dash of occasionally poetic prose style. I predict this author will not be the next John Grisham, but the writer that John Grisham should have been.

Excellent courtroom drama
I would this more than 5 stars if I could! This book had it all- suspense, romance, betrayal, scary moments, but more courtroom scenes than most legal thrillers. Roger Wayne did an excellent job of narration, and made me feel like I was right there with Matt. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for more legal thrillers by James Bostwick to become available in Audible books.

Dull, will be returning this one.
Absolutely love a good courtroom thriller and have nearly exhausted all the John Grisham & Mark Gimenez novels so thought it was about time to discover some new authors, sadly this just isn’t one.
It warrants 2 stars as I have stuck with it for 7 hours but I can bear no more, don’t get me wrong I like a good 14 hour book when the story is compelling & the narration is good (I like to get my money’s worth). In truth this probably just needs some drastic editing as the main storyline has promise but there has just been too much of the romantic sub plot and tedious details that are unnecessary for moving the story along, in my opinion.
Roger Wayne’s narration is okay but a bit soporific for my liking & for this type of book, it doesn’t really add any tension that might have helped me persevere to the end.
Sadly I will be returning this one.
