Publisher's Summary

Collected here are the first four books of the eight books, best-selling epic Adrian's Undead Diary.

The world crashed to pieces on June 23rd and Adrian Ring wasn't anywhere near ready for it. He had no guns, no food, no friends around, a cat that wanted to slip out the back of the condo and a girlfriend trapped in the heart of the city. This is the story of how he survived.

Book One: Dark Recollections: Beheading a zombie isn't easy in a world where you're more afraid of the living than the dead. Adrian Ring's simple life is thrown into chaos when the world is ripped apart by a plague of undead and legions of desperate survivors. Retreating to Auburn Lake Prep Academy, Adrian attempts to rescue friends and family on the way while dancing around his impending insanity over who and what he left behind, and evading maniac survivors. He saves his cat Otis, but shoots his mom. Pretty , all things considered. Of course, his sanity takes a hit as a result.

Real, flawed, and raw, Dark Recollections is Adrian's own story of how he survived after "That Day". Told through his eyes as he talks to his laptop, affectionately named "Mr. Journal", and through short stories that entwine with his tales that bring forth dark visions of a world being eaten alive by an unimaginable evil.

AUD is an eight part epic about a solitary, guilt stricken man that didn't think he deserved to live, but realizes very soon that he survived, and suffered for a reason.

This collection contains Dark Recollections, Alone No More, Midnight, and The Failed Coward, four full-length novels following the end of the world as witnessed by Adrian Ring.

Adrian's Undead Diary set the bar for me!

I love the Walking Dead. When the season I was watching several years ago ended I wanted more. I searched Audible for books that I felt embodied the mood of the early walking dead seasons. I kept skipping over AUD, because I didn't think I would enjoy a book that was written like a diary. I didn't understand how listening to someone's journal being read could hold my attention.

I listened to a sample of the first book and immediately loved the narrator, James Anderson Foster. It was a great fit. I figured I'd give it a try and could return the book if I didn't like it. I finished the first book in record time and anxiously waited for the second book in the series.... and so on... and so on..... I had a "no Audible books in the house rule" (only listened in the gym and driving). I broke my own rule. I couldn't stop listening.

It blew my mind. I had pretty low expectations, especially for an author (at that time) I had never heard of and this being my first "zombie" book. No way I was returning the book. Chris Philbrook has become one of my top 3 favorite authors and I have listened to well over 600 books on audible alone. So that's pretty high praise. I have since listened to (off the top of my head) about 20 or more books that Chris Philbrook has written.

Many zombie books (I really don't like categorizing them like that, but I'm at a loss) I've read all are heavy on artillery and blood and low on character and entertainment. Omnibus isn't one of them. It has everything. Oh... it has guns.... but it also has a really strong main character. Fantastic supporting characters. And a plot I didn't see coming and after listening to as many books as I have, I can usually figure out the ending halfway through. Not with this series.

And although I'm not sure how to correctly word this... as I am not a writer myself so please bear with me.... but whether you are a guy or a girl, there is something for both in these books. The main character, Adrian, is hardcore. However, that's not his only facet. There is a lot more to the guy than killing zombies. For the guys there are guns and weaponry and I suspect you'll thoroughly love it. For the girls, there is this bada$$ guy that that makes his cat, Otis, (how can you not love that name?) his priority. He's a softie at heart, but you're hard pressed to see it without really getting to know the character and probably not until several books in. And to really know the character you need to get Omnibus.

Now you can get the first 4 books for ONE credit when you buy Omnibus. Do it! It's such a steal . Save yourself 4 credits by buying this ONE book and not the 4 titles individually. It's totally worth it. I don't often write reviews (I should do better), but for this one I had to. It's probably my #1 favorite series of all time!

great performance but lack of knowledge in areas.

okay....a military veteran would not use the term clip. the author even made fun of that term early on and then used it for 99% of the magazines. a single vicodin does not make you black out and become a drug head. its five five six not five fifty six. I enjoyed the story and narrator but the lack of research on certain topics used heavily in the books makes me cringe every time I hear them.

Adrian's Undead Diary (AUD) - THE BEST!!!!!

Adrian's Undead Diary Omnibus: Volume 1 contains the first 4 books in the saga. Outstanding / Engaging take on the Zombie Apocalypse. I have read & re-read this Saga so many times.... Never gets old and I am always catching something new I missed. Very enjoyable to listen to as a new way to experience the saga. Narrator draws you in so be careful listening and driving so you do not get distracted. This is such an original take on the Zombie Apocalypse - You will not be disappointed!!

Favorite Series

This has to be one of my life-long favorite series. I read the books a couple of years back and have been looking forward to the audio series for a long time. Well worth my time. Chris Philbrook is an awesome story teller and James Foster is the perfect voice for Adrian. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. Be forewarned, mature language and themes, but not too extreme.

A few hours in and loving it.

I don't normally like first person narration but decided to try this book. I am glad I did. It got me interested right from the start. The narration is perfect for the story. I am taking a long road trip in a few days and look forward to many hours of listening. This book is worth your credit.

All time favourite zombie book!

This is my second time listening to Adrian's undead diary and I loved it as much as the first time around. A nice mix of Adrian's day to day survival story (first person) interspersed with other intertwining survivor stories (third person). Absolutely fantastic! "Otis is my homeboy"

pulls you in!

I love zombie books that focus mainly on survival rather than fighting other people all the time. these books have got a good ratio of just trying to survive, and clashing with others. hooked me right in, and can't wait to get started on the next book!

Zombie Heaven

Never see myself as much as a zombie fan, but this was on another level. Totally changed my journey into work.

The narrator was excellent from start to finish, and at times took me into the life of Adrian.

By far the best listen for me ever, It would be good and nice to know if the writer or narrator ever see the feedback?

If they do it should be overwhelming happy to know what has been produced is pure zombie heaven, ever so tastefully done, thank you!!

Can’t wait for down load the next 7 or 8 instalments for a journey into work.

50 hours on the train is now a pleasure!!

Awful

The narator is probably one of the best in the field. The story, however, is absolutley rubbish.

Good performance, but too laddish for me.

I like Adrian, but grew annoyed at all the sexual references and the sheer amount of sexist language. Team vagina, the guys constant urge for pussy (sic). I'm not interested, really I'm not. Ok I get it, he was a young man and I expected some, but still it was too much. Would have Preferred more zombies really. Shame really, because it was a good story otherwise, but this put me off a lot. The performance was excellent and saved it from a lower score.

HOURS WELL SPENT WHILE LISTENING…I felt more and more as I was part of Adrian’s story

Chris Philbrook’s developing the story in all parts from 1 to 8 that I had to listen most of it with no other distraction focused out of my growing anxiety and growing love for Adrian and other persons created and develop by the author.
My eyes watered more than once and tears run also, I don’t deny it….OMG I really really got sad and was shocked from some developments I NOT expected…..
And so I was very happy when I saw this over 38 hours long omnibus audiobook version with the parts 1-4 & hope now soon to be able to purchase the logical must offered omnibus option with the parts 5-8 by audible.
The zombies are creepy throughout all parts and never got tired to be continue following the the story…as I also had to know that Otis was well in the end….
You want to know who’s Otis?

A great Z survival story to sink your teeth into!

I discovered this series on a fb group called The Zombie Pen (check it out BTW, everything zombie and apocalypse related to fill your needs), as it was listed for free on audible for a limited time. I decided to give it a go and man am I happy I did.
I found it hard to get into in the start, only because I'd never read or listened to a book written in a diary format before, but it didn't take long to get hooked. The early days of the fall of humanity are portrayed very well. The detail in description is impressive and meaty (pun intended), and you can really start to picture in your head the inventory and surroundings of the book.
Adrian is a no nonsense, take no shit kind of guy. He can be funny, kind, aggressive and downright ignorant at times, but it's all very relatable. He knew some sh!t right from the beginning, and made no stops to pulling off his plan for survival.
I highly recommend giving this omnibus a try, it may seem daunting being around the 40hr mark, but trust me, the time flies, especially if you listen as you work, walk and drive. It's a great book to have on while you do something else that doesn't require full focus, not that this book isn't stocked with information and fun, it is, it's loaded in fact, but it's written in a way that you can absorb the words being read to you while managing to do something else at the same time.
Easy to listen to zombie survival fun and gore. If you like the genre, or want to try it out, look no further.

Now if you'll excuse me I must go and begin book 5....
5/5.

Gavin
