Over the course of a lifetime, women with ADHD learn through various channels that the way they think, work, speak, relate, and act does not match up with the preferred way of being in the world. In short, they learn that difference is bad. This audiobook doesn’t force you to do anything you’re not ready to do. You have all the time in the world to complete it, and you do it on your terms and at your speed. I would encourage anyone with ADHD to try doing a guided meditation included in this audiobook. Although it might pose a challenge, it is definitely worth a try.

Outdated and quite annoying!
As an adult woman recently diagnosed with ADHD, I was highly motivated to listen to this. However, it has several major flaws. Firstly, the author repeats facts many times often within a short space (is this because she thinks we won't remember what she's said previously?!) Secondly, the narrator sounds like a robot and keeps pronouncing ADHD strangely, with the emphasis on different letters for no apparent reason. This may sound nitpicking but the term ADHD is used literally hundreds of times so it becomes somewhat grating. Thirdly, the book is very USA focused which I hadn't realised when I downloaded it (I'm in UK). A more global perspective would've felt more inclusive and relevant. Finally, and most seriously, the book repeatedly refers to ADHD as a mental illness, abnormality and disease. I think this is outdated and open to reinterpretation considering at least one in ten people worldwide are suspected of living with ADHD. Might the neurodivergent brain instead be seen as another version of so-called normal which is only seen as problematic in the context of our post-industrial lifestyles and the rigid expectations of our education systems? Benefits of an ADHD brain are only briefly mentioned. I shall look for a more up to date and encouraging ADHD book to listen to.

Lost interest
Being 100% honest, I haven’t really listened to much of this but the sheer repetition of “ADHD” i found annoying…also the fact that it’s referred to as a “disease” is shocking (may have picked up wrong due to perception difficulties.) you can cure most diseases, you can’t cure ADHD. It’s a disability.

Do not waste money on this.
If you have ADHD/Autism this book says you have a disease. This is offensive to those of us with these conditions and highly misleading to those without them. The narrator struggles with longer or more technical words and the production is amateurish to say the least.

Remarkable
Among the points made in this book is the fact that although it is called ADHD in adults, the symptoms begin in childhood and last into adulthood, but that it is usually detected and diagnosed when the person is an adult, in order to be treated.

This book is the opportunity to learn that hyperactivity in adults may diminish, but that impulsivity, restlessness and difficulty concentrating may persist; however, they can also be treated by following the guidelines contained here, always seeking calmness and a better lifestyle.
