Paint your toes. Pick up the wrong coffee and bagel order. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic so slow you want to tear your hair out. It’s amazing all the useless things I can accomplish while on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when I should be getting the Date-in-a-Box website ready to launch at the big business expo in a few days. Except my shiny new website is glitching, and my inner rage-monster is ready to scorch some earth...when he finally picks up. Not the robot voice I expected but a real live human named Kal.

Gracie Reed is doing just fine. Sure, she was fired by her overly “friendly” boss, and yes, she still hasn’t gotten her mother into the nursing home of their dreams, but she’s healthy, she’s (somewhat) happy, and she’s (mostly) holding it all together. But when a mysterious SUV pulls up beside her, revealing Chinese cinema's golden couple Wei Fangli and Sam Yao, Gracie’s world is turned on its head. The famous actress has a proposition: Due to their uncanny resemblance, Fangli wants Gracie to be her stand-in.

The audio production of read was solid too. When I first started listening, I literally thought it was my own phone ringing or messaging me.

TERRIBLE AUDIO
This is a book that seriously made me ask the question: did anyone even listen to this after they edited it?! The audio switched between loud and quiet so often that I almost stopped listening. I had to turn the volume up at least three more levels to even hear the quiet parts and then the normal volume parts would destroy my ears. It was incredibly irritating to switch back-and-forth so often. Then there were certain parts of the book that would repeat. It would finish a few lines, be super quiet and then repeat the lines. Additionally, there were random awkward quiet pauses throughout the entire book.
I typically enjoy books like this where they have multiple characters and sound effects, but this one was so poorly done. The plot line wasn’t that great to start with, but a decent performance could have saved it. At least a little bit. Instead, I finish this book feeling like I just lost 4 1/2 hours of my life.

LOVE this classic romcom
This was such a fun listen! I can't stop thinking about the characters. For fans of romcoms, you'll love the homage to all the classic tropes, but they add a modern spin that makes it self-aware and genuinely funny. Light a candle, sip a vanilla latte, and cozy up with this heartwarming story :)

Loads of Fun
Really fun original Audible production! I’ve listened to a few of these now and I think they’re great! It’s more like listening to a play versus a narrated book. All you hear is dialogue by a full cast of actors and various sound effects like music, ringtones, doors closing, footsteps, etc. This one had a fun plot based on The Bachelor. Amanda is the secret winner and engaged to The Bachelor but she can’t tell anyone until the season airs, so she goes home to live with her parents until broadcasting. There, she reconnects to her long time childhood friends and her high school friend Josh and deals with being a local celebrity as the episodes air, as well as being separated from her secret Fiance. It all plays out with authenticity and has a terrific HEA!
