Publisher's Summary

A world gone mad. Creatures of nightmare walk the streets, but worse are those we once knew . . .

Matt survived the Dungeon's founding, and managed to gather a small, but dedicated team to him, but when he finds his is not the only Dungeon in the area, he has a choice to make.

Attempt friendly co-existence, but lose the element of surprise, or attack, and risk it all?

Matt has learned the consequences of being too trusting when the world collapses around you, but is the path of grim dictator any better?

Can he trust those around him? When those he left behind seem to be abusing his gift?

all good but...

take out the sexual descriptions they aren't funny and they are just gross one scene made me say what the fuck out loud I don't want to hear a fanfiction I want to hear a novel you can make jokes but constantly saying how horny the mc is is just weird and if you are going to make them still MAKE THEM SHORTER FOR THE LOVE OF GOD they go on for so long where the main characters start making stupid choices because they are so God damn horny

sorry for no punctuation this is a rant and I'm writing on my phone...

Done right.

This series is post apocalypse done right with an awesome system integrated into the story. I imagine the decisions wouldn’t be easy and our modern morals would conflict with what needs to be done. The author does a great job writing characters that war with what has to be done but do it regardless. Well done Jez. You’ve killed it again!

Jez Does It Again

Seriously, Jez is one of the best to write in the genre, and this is some of his best work. Add to that Neil bringing some excellent voice work and it's a ringer.

I hate the females

The females in this book are the types that you read about on the “am I the asshole” on Reddit. Like a super toxic family that shits on anyone that’s not them. So the MC is treated like shit. The two females are horrible to the MC and their brother said the only way the MC can date his sister is to save the world. This is after the MC saves his little girl and wife and him numerous times. He even offers shelter to all of them but still treated like shit. Seems like this standard only applies to the MC because the female sister that he is interested dated dirtbags his brother seemed really ok with.

If the author was going for a strong female character he failed and it is annoying. I was in the Army and was a Paratrooper and trained and worked with females that I went to war with and not one of them would act like them. So he missed the mark with their development. If I was the MC I would kick all of them out of the dungeon and tell them to go fuck themselves.

MC is slippin

When I first started this series the MC was ok, not the most likable but also not dislikable. Throughout the book it seems like he just gets dumber and meaner as time goes on. Idk what’s goin on here but the premise behind the book is pretty good and there are some parts that I really enjoy. Other times it is seriously cringe worthy. Honestly I feel bad for the people that follow him out of necessity as he’s the only one with a steady supply of food. Without that I see no way they would stick with him. His ego just gets bigger and bigger. I’m really hoping the MC gets his act together in the next book. I’m most likely going to pick it up, but if he’s still doing the same stuff then I’m going to have to tap out after that.

hands down best Apocalypse litrpg

Litrpgs are awesome. Dungeon Core books are awesome. Apocalypse books are awesome. Leave it to Jez Cajiao to put them all together,; how could you get anything less than one of the best litrpg series written to date.
There are other Apocalypse litrpgs out there, some of them quite popular. They often jump from survival to an immense plot that treats the setting as just a backdrop. Here, while other things are happening, survival and gritty street to street battles are maintained throughout, and while mc is getting powerful, as are his band, they are in no way unbeatable killing machines, wiping the floor with every baddy until the final. each and every encounter has a sense of danger that keeps you on the edge of your seat, the combat is top notch, and great tactical write out. over all scratches all of the boxes and makes quite a few excellent and memorable characters. Pre-ordered the next, keep it up mate!

Great follow up

This the 2nd one is a great development of characters and the system its based on. Still quite light on stats but the action is pretty much nonstop and we getba chance to expand the characters as well as the dungeon.
Having read further on in the series I know that we are only going up and Hellegers does great with the accents and the general voices of the characters.
