Matt survived the Dungeon's founding, and managed to gather a small, but dedicated team to him, but when he finds his is not the only Dungeon in the area, he has a choice to make. Attempt friendly co-existence, but lose the element of surprise, or attack, and risk it all? Jax is a pretty regular guy, has a job he tolerates, a girl he kinda, sorta loves...and he fights creatures from the UnderVerse in his sleep, leaving him covered in horrific scars when he wakes up. When his brother vanishes, and five years later he's kidnapped as well, he's given a stark choice by his asshat of a father: Go to the UnderVerse in reality, travel to the capitol of that ruined realm at the center of reality, and open a portal for the Noble Houses to return home...or die.

Possibly it's not to save a pair of drowning girls, not go 'viral' on social media and certainly not to let the local police take your passport, trapping you on a small 'party' island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. But Steve isn't the average guy, he's ex-military, ex-enforcer and ex-human. He's a one man nanite fuelled nightmare for those that cross the line, and he's decided that its time to clean up his act. He's going to make up for the things he's done, and save 'the little guys'.

Felix's life on Earth had become a series of dead-end jobs, ruined relationships, and rotating apartments smaller than most postage stamps. By all accounts, even his own, he was a coward. Too afraid to move forward, to take risks. Yet when given the chance to choose between risking his life or walking away from a deadly encounter, he didn't hesitate. Moments before his untimely demise, Felix was snatched from earth and thrust into a magical world known only as "The Continent". Empowered by the "System", he learns that he can strengthen himself through combat and dedication.

Due to unusual circumstances, Randidly starts in an isolated dungeon far beyond his level, forced to rely on the mysterious Traveler Shal in order to learn and survive with the dangerous new status quo for his world. But survive he does, only to leave the dungeon and discover that while he experienced several hellish months in the dungeon, only half a day passed on Earth. Randidly's capabilities are now more than enough to help build a small enclave of survivors, but that doesn't mean balancing his sense of responsibility against the plots of an unfriendly town will be easy.

An inn is a place to rest, a place to talk and share stories, a place to find adventure, or a starting ground for quests and legends. It is in this world, at least. To Erin Solstice, an inn seems like a medieval relic from the past. But here she is, running from Goblins and trying to survive in a world full of monsters and magic. She’d be more excited about all of this if everything wasn’t trying to kill her. But an inn is what she’s found, and so that’s what she becomes; an innkeeper, who serves drinks to heroes and monsters. Mostly monsters. But it’s a living, right?

But as the world ended, he had only one thought: to punish the monster that had killed the world long before the Framework ended it. Publisher's Summary
In all the games Matt has played, dungeons are places to raid, places you dream of conquering, but when the world is stripped of electricity, and the first mana-twisted beasts start to prowl, the games all come to an end....
Matt's just an ordinary guy, but when he's beaten, robbed, and left for dead, bleeding out at the bottom of a gully, it all has to change as he grasps frantically at his only chance for survival, coming as it does in the form of a glowing, dangerously pulsing light.
With his reality forever altered, Matt must quickly find a suitable place to deploy the Dungeon Core, fighting his way through the hundreds of people between him and safety, because if he doesn't do it soon, a Core Detonation will solve all of his problems for him....permanently.
Welcome to the New World.

Lots of dumb
There’s a lot of dumb the guy is supposed to be a really smart dude yet he makes a lot of dumb mistakes out of fear of not thinking and things of that nature it really gets under my skin you can’t be that smart and then be this dumb at the same time. No common sense so far not thinking just reacting and always getting himself in stupid avoidable trouble. Common sense to solve a lot of problems for this guy and self-preservation as well.. I’m not Halfway through yet maybe it will get better but this type of thing really irritates me

I enjoyed 99.9% of this book
Jez Cajiao is a new author for me and I am again delighted to fall onto another that is gifted at being able to craft a book with interesting characters, a unique plot and with thrilling, humorous and entertaining content. I was so pleased with the plot and the consistent forward movement of the events that I really wanted to give it 5 stars across ratings but couldn't not in good conscience do it due to one drawback. The authors over-use of stat recitals. Listen, I understand the desire of authors to keep to the tenets of the litRPG genre for the leveling up mechanics and for the written book this plentiful use is even a desirable feature. However, for audio listeners such as myself, too much of that ruins the tempo of the sense of forward movement of the story itself. I wish the audio studios would come up with an agreed upon means to allow listeners to easily fast-forward through those stat-recital sections which they may not want to listen to. Oh well, it's not a showstopper distraction and certainly won't stop me for eagerly awaiting for his next book in the series.
Neil Hellegers, never stop being you. Your narration skills are such that, along with a few others, when seeing new author title I will almost always give the audiobook serious consideration for purchasing.

It's a Great Beginning
Well known narrator Neil Hellegers does this audio a great job as I would expect to relative newcomer Jez Cajiaos new series.
This is very much a litRPG Dungeon Core War of the Worlds vibe and somehow this weird modern real world story works kinda of like Boyces Red Mage. As this is his 2nd series I have gotten into and eargerly awaited the next installment this has now cemented his place in my must buy/listen category, something not easy in a large marketplace.
This feels very down to earth with that kinda close working grass humour style that appeals to me and I think to many of those who have been in these kinda environments.
5 out of 5 all round and hopefully for the rest of the series which Im hoping is round the corner anyday now

interesting story but bad character interactions
TLDR: poorly written characters, especially women. frustrating dialog. Not worth your time.
the good:
good ideas that are decently fleshed out.
combat is mostly good.
magic system is a bit weird but seems fairly well thought out.
profomace is decent although not a huge range.
the bad:
characters are almost always bickering and no one seems to actually talk just whine or shout.
very few female characters and almost every single one is immediately sexualized and poorly written.
I found none of the characters likeable and most are intolerable. most people are hyper violent and over react a lot.
really inconsistent morality on both the man character and others.
you are constantly given directions to places but they don't always make sense and are mostly unnecessary.

mc is an idiot and bullshit lucky
but still good idea and has potential
like he has magic yet he never uses it untill he almost dies
like when he fighting against some zombie thing he shoots bullets at an undead an misses alot instead of just burning it twice with his fire skill then sending his minions in instead he just has them fight and die pretty much
magic should be used first not last chance
wtf is the point of having massive damage if U only use it afterwards
save ya bullets
also mc always goes stupidly into fights by himself like some fking trained professional thinking i got this shit
and survives by bullshit

Poorly written women and cringe romantic scenes.
I have listened to alot of Cajiro's work and the major problem I have with it is the way that he writes women as poorly written play things for the protagonist, with extremely cringy scenes of "romance". Which I always have to skip.
The lit-rpg and action scenes are were Cajiro shines.

one of the better lit rpgs
I enjoyed this book a lot. At times ludicrous but so is the whole premise. suspend reality and go on a well paced ride. Looking forward to book 2.

loved it, read it when it first came out had to get it again when it dropped as an audiobook. It distracted me from all the other books I'm reading at the moment.
