Story
Callum had seen things all his life. There are monsters and beasts living among people, but he learned very early not to admit such things, not if he didn’t want people to think him crazy. It turns out that the supernatural is real, but at 30, Callum has no desire to be part of that secret. Not that he has a choice when it turns out he is a mage, albeit one that hasn’t cast any spells in all his life. There are requirements, duties, and education that the powers that be insist he be subject to. To hell with that.

Jin Rou wanted to be a cultivator. A man powerful enough to defy the heavens. A master of martial arts. A lord of spiritual power. Unfortunately for him, he died, and now I’m stuck in his body. Arrogant Masters? Heavenly Tribulations? All that violence and bloodshed? Yeah, no thanks. I’m getting out of here. Farm life sounds pretty great. Tilling a field by hand is fun when you’ve got the strength of ten men—though maybe I shouldn’t have fed those Spirit Herbs to my pet rooster.

A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

No one should live day-to-day just to exist. It only took an invite from a person I’ve never met to a place I didn’t know existed to tempt me to walk…no, run away from everything I knew. How sad is it when I’m the last one to see that my crappy life needs a do-over? Starting over in my midlife wasn’t exactly the plan. But with the discovery that I actually have an aunt I never knew existed, magic is real, humans can turn into animals, and there might even be a real freaking dragon living in Guardian Lake—I can’t help but hope there has to be a better life waiting for me.

My master created me for his entertainment, leading adventurers to ruin. Betraying them at the last moment, just when their glorious victory was on hand. I have been found again by the newest member of a quartet of dungeon crawlers. Poor fool. This time will be no different. Or does it have to be? Maybe I don't need to spend eternity left in a deep, dark dungeon waiting to devour would-be heroes. Maybe, just maybe, I can take him over and use this new identity to leave and masquerade as an adventurer myself.

Publisher's Summary
Blaze MacKenzie is a freakishly tall heiress who just discovered that her "parents" actually found her abandoned as an infant in some bizarre human sacrifice in the woods. Along with that nasty little bit of information came a $600,000 check, a strange golden feather, and the ability to move to the Alaska Bush and begin her dream life living off the grid.
Unfortunately for Blaze, life in rural Alaska isn't as peaceful as she imagined. Among her many startling discoveries is that her sexy new handyman, Jack Thornton, has already "claimed" the territory that her new lodge is sitting on.
Further complicating matters, Jack makes it clear to Blaze that there are a good many things that go bump in the Alaskan night, and when a pack of werewolves goes rogue and starts killing or turning everyone along the Yentna River, Blaze and Jack find themselves in a fight for survival in this magic-soaked "land of the midnight sun'.

Highly recommended
This is the first time I’ve read anything by Ms. King and I thoroughly enjoyed her tale. There was a little bit of everything, nerve racking action and adventure, fantasy, humor and, of course, romance. There is some erotica but not a lot and not until well into the story. The relationship between Jack and Blaze was somewhat surprising. Even though they were supernatural beings they came across as being very ‘human’ and definitely very relatable. Jack is an ancient being trying to understand relationships in the modern world and Blaze walks a thin line between being an independent feminist and a traditional female. The humorous situations the two created had me ‘laugh out loud’.
All of the narrators’ performances were truly outstanding. The primary narrator, Mr. Johnson, made the adventure memorable.

MUST READ‼️
❤️🧡💛 This was an amazing story! I loved every thing about it. The story, plot, execution, characters, performance, romance, laughter, action EVERYTHING! One minute I’m laughing out loud (with my husband and kids looking at me like I’m crazy🤣), the next crying, then I’m swooning.
Another thing I really liked was that I didn’t have to buy 3-10 additional books to get to the end of the story. I hate when they do that. It was a long time length but every minute of it was filled with action packed fun! Can’t wait to read more Sara King stories 💛🧡❤️

Wonderful
The characters, even the prickly ones are a hell of a lot of fun. They so easily remind me of people within my life I can’t help but feel familiarity in some ethereal way at times.
There is pov switching at times but it’s clear where the heart is; the pov switching is spectacular. Every, single, time, it was so genuine that I immediately adopted the emotional distress of the new pov without even realizing it. It makes it feel less like a book and more like a story you’re actively experiencing. I, want, so, many, more. Well done Sara King, Emma Kate Starling, Zachary Johnson, Jeff Hays. !Mila Esker!

Not Typically a Romance Fan
Let it be said that I don't normally read romance novels of any kind. I did give this audiobook a shot and I was more enthralled in the story than I thought I would be. King is a talented storyteller who keeps you wanting more, and the narration is done incredibly well.

Audiobook turned story up to 11 !
This was already one of my favorite books! One I've reread a few times, enjoying returning to
characters that seem like old friends, and a story that’s a journey of hardship, perseverance, hilarity,
taking chances, and delicious “Ah Ha” moments. But, THIS audiobook has taken all the twist and turns, the emotions, and battle of wits between the two main characters and turned it up to 11 !! This is a MUST listen. Seriously.
I didn’t think it was possible, but Zachary Johnson truly brought out so much more feeling and depth to already great scenes! The hilarious banter, nailed it. Jack’s frustrated growls, his cheeky comments,
and especially his vulnerability. Just Wow! Emma Kate Starling, did Blaze such justice, hearing all that MOXIE! So good. And her villain voice, omg, chillingly evil, shivers down the spine, inspiring such fear.
Amazing job all around!

Well now,that was unexpected!
I bought the hardcover edition of this book in 2016. I've read it and read it and then read it again last week when I knew I was going to be listening to the audiobook. I love this book and was not looking forward to listening to it. I wasn't sure what it would do to something that I really liked. And I have to admit in the beginning it was a little jarring. Not that there is anything wrong with it, just that it isn't what I was expecting. I guess in the building that is my brain the voices were different. And I never really realized I already had internal voices for the characters. But then as the story progressed, as I said a story I've loved, they grew on me. It wasn't long until I got to experience something I loved in a whole new way. I don't think I can ever hold them as the same thing, but then I guess they really aren't the same. The people voicing my beloved characters give them their own life. hearing the inflections of their interpretations of the words really brings a new feeling to the work.
What do I get from the whole thing? That I need to go try audiobooks for other books that I love.

Nice, but...
Couldn't finish. There is too much useless dialogue and no story. Saying things to intentionally hurt another person is NOT OK, but doing it continuously? Are you building a protagonist or an antagonist here? The narrators are good, no problem there.
