Story
Step 1: You admit that you're powerless over your addiction. Now what? Twelve-step programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) have helped countless people on the path to recovery. But many still feel that 12-step programs aren't for them: that the spiritual emphasis is too narrow, the modality too old-school, the setting too triggering, or the space too exclusive. Some struggle with an addict label that can eclipse the histories, traumas, and experiences that feed into addiction, or dismisses the effects of adverse experiences like trauma in the first place.

Story
Addiction is one of the most prevalent forms of disease in the current generation. It is a persistent kind of disease shown by wanting to use drugs; it is difficult to manage and control even though it has adverse and harmful results. Most people use drugs voluntary for healing purposes but consistent substance use leads to brain damage or a change in the proper functionality of the brain. This is due to the fact that the person has no self- control to the drug and is also unable to resist the drug.

LOVE THE BOOK BUT NOT THE SOUNDS
I love the content of the book. I also loved that he incorporated CBT principles for application. One of my pet peeves with those who offer advice is the failure to explain how to apply the advice. This book gives practical tips for application and personal examples to help those reading relate to the message. I also loved the connection to the workbook pages and the bog book. I liked the strategic repetitive language. What I disliked the most was the smacking and literally the sound of spit in his mouth. I think at one point he may have been eating. That could just be my annoyance, so please don't change your mind due to that comment. I made it all the way through the book and relistened to a few chapters despite the sound.
