Story
I met fallen angel princes; I met a Savage Duke; I met a Cheshire Cat. And remember - how could you possibly forget - I'm the fabled Alice from the prophecy. Just a twisted, dark version of the girl in Lewis Carroll's old books. Except in those books, there was a happy ending. In those books, Alice wasn't dating nine very different, very beautiful men. But now that I've met the King of Hearts and the Mad Hatter, I'm not sure who the real bad guys are.

My story? It’s wrought with violence. Strewn with blood. Dominated by desire. My stepmother, the evil queen, hates me. She wants me dead but hasn’t killed me yet. At her insistence, a never-ending line of repugnant suitors vie for my hand, but when I decline each and every one, the evil queen punishes me...severely. She will stop at nothing until I’m sold or dead.

Break the new girl. That should be easy, right? Trash like her doesn’t belong at Burberry Prep. No, Marnye Reed is going down, and we plan to make a spectacle out of it. Let’s see who can make her fall in love first. Bet’s on. Any takers? Take on the filthy rich boys. They’re the idols of the school, veritable gods on earth. Old money. New money. A rising star. These guys are nothing like the ones at my old school. I might come from nothing, but I’m determined to be someone, and I won’t let them get in my way.

Hot bullies, busted cars, and the party of the year. On an endless loop. I don’t know how, but I’m living today over and over again. Every year, the town of Devil Springs holds a celebration known as Devils’ Day. There’s no magic, but there might as well be: We wear masks, we play tricks, we party hard. Every year, the students of Crescent Reform School party the hardest. They’re the lewdest, the most wanton, ribald, and lascivious.

You'd think that basically being in charge of love would be an epic job, right? Wrong. Sure, I can blow some Lust into people's faces and watch the show, but I can't actually participate. It gets old, trust me. Same goes for love. I can pass it out like sugar-free lollipops at a dentist's office, but I can't get any love for myself. It totally sucks. I used to consider myself a hopeless romantic, so why wouldn't I choose to become a cupid? Sounds like a good idea, right? Wrong again. They don't call us stupid cupids for nothing.

Publisher's Summary
Um. Um. Um. Are you reading this? If you are, I need your help. I was at a party; I was running; I fell. And get this - this is the part you'll never believe - I fell down a rabbit hole. Like Alice in those old books. Except in those books, there wasn't blood everywhere. In those books, the characters weren't all male, attractive, and interested in me.
Forget everything you know about the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit, the March Hare.... This isn't Wonderland; this is Underland. Violence, sex, drugs, and magic...that's all there is in this place. There's me, Allison, and there are the men that want me, the enemies that hunt me, and the darkness that's quickly rolling in. And only I can stop it.
So if you're reading this, will you help me? Please. I just want to escape this place and go...home.
Allison's Adventures in Underland (book 1 of 3 in the Harem of Hearts series) - is a full-length reverse harem/new adult/dark romance novel, a gritty retelling of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Don't expect a children's tale; these characters are nothing like their more innocent counterparts. This book contains drugs, cursing, violence, sex...and love found in the darkest shadows.

Underdeveloped YA Lots of Cussing Minimal Sex
So I don't know if there is something I'm missing here and after listening to the entire audible and am very confused by the rave reviews. I love the Alice in Wonderland story and use of this archetype but this story fell completely flat for me. I think sometimes people trying to utilize the Alice theme they just write something that isn't really fleshed out or complete, or feel anything that is nonsensical works. But in the case of this story I don't think it does. There is so little explained and no real understanding of the motivation for the character, who I don't even find to be a compelling protagonist. This is not helped by the narration which I found to be quite annoying, almost whining. The male narration was much better but he only read the dialogue of the male characters so it was rather brief.
I also don't find what I assume to be the expected sexual tension between the characters really engaging either. There are only two brief sex scenes that occur with under two hours left, and in the middle of one of those scenes the male character starts speaking in poetry. There is also a theme surrounding the two male partners that the protagonist sleeps with that they can't actually give total consent to the act as they are in some form or fashion made to be the property/belongings of the main character, which although the main character will briefly talk about her concerns about pretty quickly overlooks it. There is a lot of discussion of the males around her being nude and her looking at them but I don't think that in and of itself creates tension or makes something erotic. In fact most of the male characters come off as disinterested and purposefully combative. Traditionally in Alice in Wonderland the people she meets will not answer her directly and often talk in riddles. For a fairy tale with a little girl learning to find her own way and speak her voice that kind of dialogue works. With a story where we are supposed to have a young woman with a harem of suitors it doesn't. Dating someone who only talks in riddles and intentionally obscures what you are trying to clarifying doesn't come off as sexy but obnoxious bordering on gaslighting.
Also TRIGGER WARNING and minor spoiler, there is repeated mention throughout the book of the main character experiencing an attempted gang rape and things that happened within her family as a result of this incident. With the intense gritty details one would think it would create a certain depth to the character but again it falls flat for me as a listener, and since I don't feel with the main character these details don't have the emotional weight they normally would.
This book overall had a very Young Adult feel. Also I cuss and I don't mind cussing but there is also being lazy with your language. When the cussing is so frequent and not only doesn't add to the story but takes away from what could have been more descriptive and clarifying it started to make me cringe. This and the frequent use of the word "like" peppering sentences it was hard to get through this audible. Examples, "The ground was like so f*cking hard." "He looked like a f*cking Viking." This dialogue increased the feeling of reading something from a young teen that was less than enjoyable.
Overall this story was not my cup of tea, and I am not here to yuck anyone's yum, but was really surprised by the amount of 5 star reviews and wanted to share what wasn't working for me. This was the first story of C.M. Stunich's and also got her Pack Ebon Red to see if perhaps I like that story better, but I don't think I will be continuing with this story.

I'm OBSESSED with this book
C.M. Stunich never fails to enthrall me. I read this book 2 weeks ago, and was thrilled to see it on Audible!! The characters are full of depth and sexy wit. If you are like me you want to know if there is smexy time in this book; the answer is YES!! This dark re-telling of the classic has just enough parallels to the original to make the world familiar but creepy at the same time. Love this book, and can't wait for the next one in the series!

Impatiently wanting more!
First of all, why the heck are the next 2 books in the series not on Audible yet?! You can't leave me hanging like that!!
Despite the teen-like dialect in some areas, I did greatly enjoy this! My main criticism would be that Kylie Stewart doesn't use very distinctive tones sometimes when speaking versus in Alison's head or when she speaks for other female parts, but Eric Rolon did a really good job distinguishing one male character from the next, to the point that if they didn't follow it up with who said it I'd still recognize which character it was. I analyze everything and have to say I LOVED the emphasis on specific differences between the men from a polyamorous standpoint and how they seem to be okay with and recognize why the relationships that develop aren't impossible to maintain. Hopefully that isn't a spoiler!

So good!! Perfect timing for Book 2 ❤️
Absolutely loved this audiobook book of CM Stunich’s Allison’s Adventures in Underland. I thought the narration by Kylie was spot on, perfect delivery of the characters snark, passion, and nerves. I was picturing her in my head the entire time I was listening, made the character come to life so easily!! And don’t even get me started on Eric’s fantabulous job with all the different characters. And holy crap, the timbre he added to his voice for some of them made my face flush with heat (which was pretty awkward when I listened to it at my lunch break with my crush sitting right next to me hahaha).
To touch on the story a bit, I loved, loved, loved this book by CM. I think it took me a little bit to be 100% invested because it was like WTF is going on ahaha, but that fit the theme of Underland and its characters and stories perfectly. I can’t wait to see who her 9 will be but I am super excited about the 6 prospects and kept flipping who was my favorite. I think Tee is my absolute fave because he keeps surprising me just when I think I have figured him out. Super intrigued by the others and cant wait to see Sonny and them connect. The ending...OMG...so good. I loved the sexiness, the humor, the oddness, and the ode to the original Alice stories. I am amazed by what CM creates/puts out and this one is no exception. Probably my favorite one of hers besides Groupie (since that sealed my fate with reverse harem novels and she became one of my favorite authors of all time.
Cannot wait until the rest of this series comes out and can eventually make its way into audio. They will be instant one clicks for me, no doubt about it 😊. Definitely add this to your library, especially if you are Mad for Alice like the rest of the characters are 😉😁😍

Dragged down the rabbit hole!
Let me start with saying I have always loved to read, but classics are usual something I struggled with and still struggle to read. Alices Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass were the first classics I read willingly and finished within days. I adore the story of Alice in Wonderland and retellings.
Now I have to admit that I've been eyeballing this book for a couple of months now, since it showed up on my facebook feed. I always left the link as a tab in my internet so I would never lose it when the time came that I really wanted to listen to it. One day I was going to do a crap ton of driving, and i didnt want to listen to music or music horror podcasts....i finally took the plunge and got this book, on audio and text! I finished the book that day! I think this is one of my favorite retellings and I think everyone should read it. Thanks for writing it C.M.!!!!

F**king fantastic!!!
I really love this story SO much!!
Yeah, there's a lot of swearing and sexy stuff, so be warned, if that bothers you.
This dark re-telling of Alice in Wonderland is all I can think about, when thinking of Wonderland or Alice - no other adaptation can do for me anymore, because this version is just perfect!!

Repetitive
I was intrigued by this book, especially as the reviews were good.
However the plot is awful, it's repetitive and the supposed tension is terrible.
Maybe it's me, but there is nothing sexy in this book and I'm open minded.
It just bored me and made me increase the speed.
The narrator's monotone voice grated on me as well. There was no change in dialogue. No emotions or description change in her voice.
Only my opinion though. You may love this book.

Just incredible!
The story, the narrators, everything about this book sweeps you away to another world that feel familiar but so different it blows your f*cking mind.
The tension and steam is pantie melting, and it's so beautifully written the you become immersed quickly and easily.

This is an amazing book!
This is an amazing book! This is the second time I have read it/listened to it and it is one that you could listen to/ read that many times and you still wouldn't get bored because of all the tweaks of language they use and the way they structure their sentences. This does end on a cliffhanger, but it was an amazing one. The first time I read/listened to this book the second book hadn't been released as an audiobook and so I couldn't listen to it but now there is one and when I found out, I bought it as soon as I could. The narrators are really good in this book and for those who don't like when the girl narrators try doing a guys voice, then you will be pleased to know that they don't do it in this book. I definitely don't regret reading this a second time, and I didn't regret reading it the first time either, this is definitely a book I would recommend but only for those who can stomach the sex, drugs, and abuse that is mentioned in it. It was definitely a good book though. I loved this book!

Underland rules
One of my favourite series to read. Listening to it on audible took it to another level. For me the narrators voices were a perfect fit for this story.
It’s a fabulous adventure with so many fantastic characters.
CM Stunich is an absolute legend and this is only one of many awesome stories.

Emma Watson
The female narrator sounds just like Emma Watson.
Both narrators speak clearly and flow together really well. The story is interesting and enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

Great remix of a known story with some juicy bits in the second half. Abrupt ending though... Id have loved to hear the whole story!
