Story
Stockbroker Isabelle Rhodes has a lot of money, a lot of trust issues, and a whole lot of reasons to believe her ex-girlfriend was right when she said that Isabelle sucked at relationships. With that accusation stuck in her head, Isabelle throws caution to the wind and dives into her first one-night stand. Checking that off her bucket list should be something to celebrate - except it turns out that the woman she just spent an earth-shattering night with is actually her newly hired company pilot, Audrey Graham. Ms. Never-See-You-Again just turned into Ms. See-You-Constantly.

Caitlyn Lloyd has the world at her feet. Or more accurately - under her horse’s hooves. With the 2016 Rio Olympics just around the corner, nothing is going to derail her long-held dream of winning a medal or two in Olympic dressage. Not even the reappearance of a childhood so-not-a-friend throwing her perfectly balanced life into disarray. Addie Gardner’s career is at its peak, and accepting a last-minute fill-in position as the veterinarian for the US Olympic Dressage Team was a no-brainer. The fact that her old crush from Pony Club is on the team is just a bonus.

She is also one of the thousands of troops who are forced to serve in silence because of the military's anti-gay policy of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell (DADT)". Caroline Parker knows three things to be true. First, she is going to be Boston's most sought-after divorce attorney by 35. Second, given how terrible her romantic track record is, falling in love isn't in the cards for her. And third, Christmas only brings her bad luck - being broken up with not once, not twice, but three times during the holidays is proof enough of that. When she runs into Hannah Dalton on Christmas Eve, she has no reason to believe her luck will change. After all, though Hannah is probably the most gorgeous woman she's ever seen, she's also straight.

Falling stars are supposed to be a lucky sign, but not for Austen. Her new job as a secretary in an international games company isn't off to a good start. Her first assignment - decorating the Christmas tree in the lobby - results in a trip to the ER after Dee, the company's second-in-command, gets hit by the star-shaped tree topper. Dee blames her instant attraction to Austen on her head wound, not the magic of the falling star. She's determined not to act on it, especially since Austen has no idea that Dee is practically her boss.

Publisher's Summary
Half a million dollars will be Celeste Thorne’s reward for spending four years of her life in total isolation. No faces. No voices. No way to leave.
Since Celeste has never really worried about being alone, the generous paycheck she’ll receive for her participation in the solitary psychological experiment seems like easy money.
When she finds an injured hiker in the woods bordering her living compound, her strictly governed world is thrown into disarray. But even as she struggles with the morality of breaking the rules of the experiment, Celeste can’t deny her growing attraction to the kind and enigmatic Olivia Soldano. Still, how much can you really trust a stranger? And how much can you trust yourself when you know all the faces you’ve seen and voices you’ve heard for the past three years have only been your imagination?
But what’s real? Celeste’s reality may lie somewhere between the absolute truth and a carefully constructed deception.

Audio book even better
I thought that reading a book could not be improved on. I was wrong. Abby Craden has brought this excellent book to life. I cannot think of a better narrator to do EJ Noyes books into the audio world. This book should be number one in a number of categories not just Lesbian Romance. I have already preordered EJ’s next book and can’t wait.

Alone...Very Intense!
I really like E.J. Noyes as an author and Abby Craden as narrator. That is a great combination. That said, I wasn’t certain I could handle the “alone” theme for 3-4 years. Picture this: no faces, no music, no tv, no Internet, no phone. Yikes...no phone! Celeste had the motivation to try, and with difficulty succeeded....until a stranger arrived. Celeste questioned her sanity, worried about breaking rules of her contract, and made her decision. I really liked the book and the varied emotions conveyed. The story will grab you and keep ahold until the last line. And Abby Craden...is spectacular!

Meh!
Wasn't a bad book but just long and drawn out. While the plot was an interesting one and could've had so many twists, it was so slow and almost boring in some parts, eventually being somewhat anticlimactic. The narrator was fabulous tho, she is on eof my favorites, so I expected no less. Overall, I would not waste an entire credit on this, maybe if you catch a sale.

Drawn out lesbian love scene
I bought this having no clue what it was about. The synopsis seemed interesting and the reviews were stellar. The entire book was a drawn out love scene. There were no details the main characters backstory. There were only quick glimpses into her former life. However, every single detail was given about sexual thoughts and actions. It wasn’t awful, but wasn’t what I expected.

Interesting, thrilling listen in the time of social distancing
Picked this book because seemed of interest as social isolation was being recommended for covid pandemic. Wasn’t sure as Noyes is a new author for me and found it’s plot much more intriguing than initially thought - the twists and reveals were very well done. Abby Craden’s voice as always was wonderful. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent psychological thriller
First time I have listened to a book by this author. Her character development is marvelous, the way she shows us how Celeste coped with her abusive upbringing and how she now copes over new developments during the course of the book. What happens when Olivia is added to her private world. An interesting book for anyone looking for an unusual twist and turns in the story with a romance thrown in.

Awful awful softporn
Great story but the over use of ‘throbbing’, ‘moist’, ‘wet’ ‘delightful’ really put me off. I kept reading on, in the vain hope that these scenes would be few in number but no.
It was not the use of these scenes but the OVER use of them. Painful...wow.

Had me hooked
This book had me hooked from beginning to end. This book is about Celeste and spending years on her own as part of an experiment in exchange for generous amount of money, but when a stranger comes into her life unexpectedly (Olivia) Celeste worries that the experiment has been compromised. It felt very real on what it would be like for the mind spending all that time on your own, with no one to communicate with. It was well written and excellently narrated.

Absolutely outstanding
I was a bit reluctant when I read the premise of this book, but it really is terrific; perhaps her best work so far. Do yourself a favour and give it a go.

Great story
Such a different storyline. At first I wasn’t enjoying the accent, but it grew on me. (Spoiler alert) I could foresee the “Controller A” plot twist a mile away. The performance was great in the sex scenes.
A great story all round.

Reviews Surprising
To be honest, I am surprised that so many people have enjoyed this book, I am 5 hours in and very much considering returning this audiobook.
I have to say, the concept of this book I thought interesting and I have listened to some terrific lesbian romance audiobooks, in this respect, if you like a story with lesbian romance entwined in adventure or journey story, then I highly recommend When Women Were Warriors, Book 1 By: Catherine M. Wilson. That book I gave 5 stars, sadly only book 1 of 3 is available on audible.
Anyhow, this is very much not such a book, it had an interesting concept and the narrator does a great job but I just couldn’t connect with or even like the main character at all. I truly feel sorry for those people who have grown up with such abuse but this is not what I expected from this genre and being such a strong theme I simply found this book terribly depressing.
If you are considering listening to this book, expect family abuse to be a very prominent aspect. It is not a book I would recommend if you are looking for a light hearted lesbian romance.

Utterly unexpected and thoroughly recommended
Brilliantly written romance with contemporary futuristic themes and superbly narrated by Abby Craden. I loved every moment-even those that were heartbreakingly poignant.
E.J. Noise and Abby Craden... take a bow👏👏

Just brilliant
Have listened to this book more than once and it's always a pleasure. It's told from Celeste's point of view, I usually prefer books from both MCs viewpoints but E.J.Noyes is the exception...her books always deliver. Character development is great and plot is engaging. Some people may not like the amount of introspection from Celeste..but guys, two words, Abby Craden. Also, the introspection is sorta foundational. Craden's narration is just on point! Her voice brings these characters to life and spoils you for any other narrator!

Alone
This audiobook is so much more than I expected. The sample does not do this story justice. You will not be left disappointed. This story has jumped very close to the top of my favourite EJ Noyes stories. Abby Craden’s narration is second to none. Phenomenal performance.

Absorbing..Different.
E.J. Noyes is a fabulous writer; original and talented. So far I've read all of her books. The 'Ask, Tell' series is my favorite but all of her books are outstanding. It'good she's so prolific and how she manages to write to the extent she does, whilst holding down a full time 'other' job, is amazing. The worst part of reading any of her books is completing it.. The joy of a 'first read' is over. The narrator was also very good. I've just listened to this book again... and it's a strange thing.. You read or listen to one of Noyes's books and you think it's the best she's written.. Her writing is so good.. It's hard to choose 'the best'.. but this one is right up there...

Fantastic story and narration
Always a pleasure to be absorbed by an E. J. Noyes novel. Interesting characters and setting and overall great story. Extra dimensions added by the consistently wonderful narration by Abby Craden. One of my favourite audio books of the year.
