Cozy mysteries with a dash of love

This is my first intro into the Amelia Moore Detective Agency. What a fun series and cozy mysteries. It’s fun to see Amelia and Rick with their bucket lists and secret wishes to just maybe look into a relationship together and have those kisses that take your breath away. Amelia specializes in finding lost people and while her methods aren’t necessarily high tech she manages to have happy endings and reunite families together. The narration was excellent also.

Cozy mystery with travel to Mexico

Amelia Moore Mysteries Volume 1 consists of The Bali Mystery, The Shamrock Case and The Missing Heir. In the first, they travel to Bali to find their client’s missing brother. In the 2nd book, they travel to Ireland searching for relatives and answers. In the 3rd book they travel to Mexico to find a man who had to claim an inheritance. The stories are interesting. I received the audiobook from Linda Weaver Clarke for an honest review.

My review

Linda Weaver Clarke has resurrected The Amelia Moore Detective Series! A few years ago I had read the previous Amelia Moore books and I must admit that having a different narrator was kind of different but not bad.
What I liked about this book was that with each country they went to (Bali Islands in Indonesia, Ireland and Mexico) was very detailed in describing the culture, religion and the all the different things Rick and Amelia did when they weren’t working on their case. I also liked that there was quite a bit of romance because I honestly have a hard time reading/listening to a book without romance.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author. These are my own and honest opinions.

Fun set of quick mysteries, with a nice romantic storyline carried across. Stories are each a nice length to fit in when getting ready in the morning, or unwinding for bed.

Enjoyed

A trip to Bali for Amanda and Rick, sounds delightful and with good description we are drawn in. A mystery to solve why a person would with leave everything to come. Amanda solves her cases and with the love of travel. A cousins warns her off, finding even more secrets. and lies. The narration. was good. Great series, good characters, with scenic places well describe. Enjoyed. Given audio for my voluntary review.

A fun and entertaining series

The Bali MysteryI loved the flirtatious friendship between Amelia and Rick. A lot of their interactions were humorous and adorable. The mystery involving a missing person which brings the pair to an exotic location provides the perfect backdrop for their burgeoning romance.

Rick and Amelia were great characters. Both are well written and well performed. I loved how Diane Lehman could so convincingly perform such a variety of characters from an elderly woman's voice to Rick's male voice and switching back to Amelia again.

I gave the story 4 stars instead of 5 because I thought they had quite an easy time with their actual detective work. William, the missing man, left a heap of breadcrumbs for the pair to follow which included a brochure circled with all the places he was going to visit in Bali and everything else they needed to know was detailed in a journal detailing why he had decided to disappear. Despite this I really enjoyed the suspense and mystery surrounding the people who were following and threatening Amelia.

The Shamrock CaseThere is much that I enjoyed about this simple, sweet, mystery romance. It is a quick and easy read. Amelia and Rick's quest to locate their client's grandparents was an interesting story and it had an unexpected twist at the end.
The story is set in Ireland and the author did a lovely job of writing about it. The characters have an almost childlike appreciation of all the sights, tastes and sounds they experience during their visit. You almost feel like you are on the tourist trail with them. Rick and Amelia make a cute pair and their romance blossoms a little bit more during their trip here. There are a few humorous scenes as Amelia keeps forgetting her raincoat and they have to brave the weather together. I felt like telling her to get a mini umbrella for her handbag!
Although the pair enjoyed the folk music in the pub they didn't get to experience true Irish traditional music and dance. After all Danny Boy is only a hundred years old. I think the couple would have had tremendous fun at a céilí dance.
There is less suspense in The Shamrock Case compared to their first adventure in The Bali Mystery but fans of the series should enjoy it no less. The mystery surrounding the couple who eloped to America just didn't ring true to something that would happen in modern Ireland but rather something that would happen in the nineteenth century. I know that the author was inspired by events that occurred in her own family in the 1800s.
I would have updated the story for it to better fit today's multicultural Ireland.

The Missing Heir
The romance is sweet and sedate. It is obvious that they have feelings for one another but it isn't really clear that they are a couple. I'd like to see them do little acts of kindness for each other or think about the other's welfare a little bit more to develop a more romantic feel to their relationship. The humour in 'The Missing Heir' is one of the things I loved most about this book. I loved the mystery surrounding the missing doctor in Mexico. The story behind why he was there was very interesting and I enjoyed the story of the orphanage. It reminded me of my friends who volunteer each summer for similar projects in South America and Africa.

I received a copy from the author and this is my voluntary and unbiased opinion.
