Based upon a real weapon - the Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) - which may already be in the hands of our enemies, it is a truly realistic look at the awesome power of a weapon that can destroy the entire United States.

The news is full of disturbing events today. There's war and rumors of war. There's the false recovery of the economy. Faith in the US economy is extremely low. Foreign banks have either slowed their purchases of Treasury Bonds or, in a few cases, begun unloading them. We have a current election that is rife with corruption, extreme partisanship, and outright fraud. It would appear the left in the country is ready to do about anything to see their candidate elected.

Cole’s Saga is a stand-alone spin-off series, based on my American Apocalypse series. Cole’s Saga continues the story about Cole Biggs, and how he and his friends survive the apocalypse. North Korea, China, and Iran conspired against the world and used EMP bombs to destroy our grid. This new series starts in the Kentucky / Tennessee part of the US. The grid is down, and people panic as planes fall from the sky and cars stall. The US Government collapses and rogue government groups rise to power. Jack Harp is Cole’s best friend’s father.

Publisher's Summary
Liberty minded individuals and those who believe in the Constitution will find this near future dystopian novel to be right up their alley. Those who are looking to be more informed about the potential threats to America's financial stability will learn what to watch for and how to prepare themselves for an economic collapse.
America is on the cusp of financial annihilation. Matt and Karen Bair face the challenges of Main Street during a full scale financial meltdown. Government borrowing and monetary creation have reached their limits. When funds are no longer available for government programs, widespread civil unrest erupts across the country. Matt and Karen are forced to move to a more remote location and their level of preparedness is revealed as being much less adequate than they believed prior to the crisis.
Meanwhile, Paul Randall, a third party presidential candidate arises to push back against the welfare and warfare spending that have bankrupted our country. While he has gained expansive acceptance, the fight has just begun. Paul Randall proposes a plan to mitigate the coming hyper-inflationary collapse which is a mathematical certainty. His plan is known as The American Exit Strategy.
American Exit Strategy uses survival fiction to take an in-depth look at the real life politics and economics behind the issues that are likely to trigger a currency collapse or financial meltdown in the near future.
American Exit Strategy is a work of fiction…until it becomes history.

Selling an ideology...
This book made my stomach churn at the first chapter. The author attempts to sell the high morals of his characters, as they cast away anyone without identical beliefs. The author portrays women as submissive followers that are unable to think or take care of themselves. I would not classify this book as "prepper survival " but more along the lines of "fundamentalist libertarian fantasy." The author barely hides the fact that all of welfare troublemakers are non-whites , and the societal collapse starts in predominantly black cities in our country. I highly recommend skipping this book.

Well done.....bought all three books in the series
It's really hard to say how the fall of America will come. It could be a financial collapse as outlined in this book. It could also be an EMP attack, which would be the worst case scenario. This book does an excellent job of providing a highly probable play-by-play of a Financial Armageddon. The author has not left God out of the picture. Biblical verses are quoted at the beginning of many of the chapters, and the entire book is Christian based. Well worth listening, and a great book to send to take advantage of Audible's free sharing feature for those in denial or on the fence.

Too preachy. Started off with just a few references to the Bible, but by the 3rd chapter, he was going on and on, reading directly from the Bible. Also, did not care for the racial undertones. Did not bother trying to finish...definitely returning this one.

Don't waste your money
The story reads like a prepper guide book written out like a poorly dialogued story. I will say that the Prepper- pointers he lays out are good, it's still a story riddled with misinformation and falsehoods. I am an independent, I have left and right views first off. He demonizes liberals while failing to see the hypocrisy in himself. Example, he says that the snap program is overall a terrible government program while he lays out christian values and fails to see that Jesus would have been charitable if he were still alive. He says that unemployed lazy people feel entitled to snap, while in reality it's people like Walmart workers who are under paid are the recipients of this program because of the failure of the walton family to bump their pay so it lays this short coming at the feet of the middle working class to make up for their lack of basic needs. For this author to insinuate that an economic collapse is the fault of social welfare programs is totally absurd. What about corporate welfare? They take more money from tax payers than the former. This author needs to bone up on his information more and I would say the area that needs the most concern is economics. One other thing, he suggests in the book that the suppressor fully silenced a rifle shot, this is not the case, suppressors (not silencers) only muffle a gun shot. He also loves to cherry pick quotes from our founders. In closing, the whole economical system to weigh so strongly on social welfare distribution is highly ludicrous.

I am a bit of a prepper/survival novel junkie, and this is one of the best. Goodwin does an amazing job at combining current events, compelling characters, and an imaginative story all into one outstanding package. This is a must read for any patriot or post-historical fiction fan. Loved it!

Great story and narration but waaay too preachy
Great story and narration but waaay too preachy
I fully support Christian values but too many places in this book where he just reads out of the Bible for 10 minutes at a time when we could have understood his point with a few lines. Feels like filler and the feeling of having it forced on us as a captive audience isn't cool, plus it distracts from the story as he does this just when we are dying to find out what happens next, instead we get a 10 minute sermon. This caused me to not get the remaining books in this story-line. I even tried the 2nd book and returned it because it does the same thing. Kevin Pierce is awesome as a narrator as usual.

Preppers Monthly would be proud
So this concept I felt was going to be good an economic crisis and exploring how different people ride it out and deal with it but what you get is a preppers advertisement, referencing real websites and pod casts etc. Instead of cleverly bringing the reader into the world of prepping it is force fed in a very basic point to point basis.
The characters lacked depth and seemed in many situations to be unbelievable with characters understanding deep constitutional matters but lacking knowledge around basic concepts now the author used this to spoon feed the readers/listeners which I understand but was a bit tactless. I wont be proceeding with the series.

A little clumsy but well worth the listen
If you could sum up American Exit Strategy in three words, what would they be?
Relatable, Possible, republican
What was one of the most memorable moments of American Exit Strategy?
Buggin out to be with Adam and the family, the robbery, the changing neighbourhood back home
Would you listen to another book narrated by Kevin Pierce?
Yes though his delivery doesn't flow to the same level that other narrators do, the warmth in his voice makes up for some of this though
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
the description of the farmhouse matt would look at buying
Any additional comments?
A little two dimensional on the characters, a little to obvious on the correlation on real life people being named incorrectly on purpose from real life like obama. I do agree with alot of the view points from the series tho and I do feel it shows somewhat a possible future, the fact that all the nations lend and borrow on gold that they do not currently owe, the fact that hyper inflation is a real concern world wide, and the impact on that. I feel that the government in these books is a little more extreme and I worry that the work may be dismissed summarily because of this despite a lot of the founding issues being relevant.

Don’t bother
Overly simplistic plot, weak understanding of the global economy and contemporary economics and how our modern system works. Vapid characters, limited character development,(almost static ) incredibly simple sentence construction, and a clumsy attempt to disguise right wing ideology wrapped up in a poor tale of suburban breakdown. So many holes you have to suspend reality. Sexist, racist, it’s all here. Don’t bother and don’t waste your money or credits.
